Second addition to the 7 Wonders of the World
7 Wonders of the World: Cities, the second expansion pack to the 7 Wonders of the World, includes optional rules for team play. It also offers a new card type (black, representing the remnants of cities), new cards of the old types (two new wonders: Petra and Byzantium, a new guild and a leader associated with black cards).
This expansion is much more aggressive and introduces strong interaction between players who are constantly trying to score more points than their opponents.
Thanks to the rules of team play, as many as eight people can sit in one game. Members of one team sit side by side and choose cards that will benefit both of them.
The new black cards have a variety of effects, nine of which are available in each era. Sample effects:
Embassies that put you out of the arms race of this era.
Cemeteries for which you earn points at the end of the game and which other players have to pay for.
Spies who copy symbols from science (green) cards.
A black market that doubles a resource.
Ability to build cards for free by copying building dependencies from other players.
