Dragon Quest XI Definitive Edition (드래곤 퀘스트 11) is the eleventh installment of the cult series of Japanese RPGs. The title was created in cooperation with Square Enix and Orca studio, which contributed to Dragon Quest X - while the whole work was supervised by Hokuto Okamoto. The production was released, among others, on the PS4, PC, Nintendo Switch, and XONE.
The story of DQXI: Echoes of an Elusive Age takes place in the fantastic land of Erdrea. The player takes on the role of one of the inhabitants of the Ishi village. On his sixteenth birthday, during the ceremony organized to celebrate his coming of age, the young man discovers that he is the embodiment of a hero who managed to save the world years ago. There was a glowing mark on his hand, heralding the impending crisis. From then on, his fate is in question - the protagonist sets off on a journey that is to seal his destiny. Fortunately, he is not alone, as he is accompanied by his faithful friends - Emma who is devoted to him, and Camus who acts as a guide. Do not hesitate, and get the Dragon Quest 11 PC version now.
As in Dragon Quest VIII: Journey of the Cursed King, the world of Dragon Quest XI: Echoes of an Elusive Age has a sandbox character. The core of the gameplay is exploring the environment, talking to NPCs and completing their story and side missions, fighting enemies on the way, as well as gaining valuable experience and character development. The battles are played in a turn-based system - the key to success is the appropriately high level of experience and the selection of the right equipment. There are various opponents on your way - from weaker opponents to much more powerful specimens, the defeating of which requires developing a specific tactic.
Change is good
Compared to the previous installments of the series, the title introduces numerous changes and improvements to the game scheme. The protagonist can climb onto the elements of the environment, thanks to which the locations gained a new, vertical dimension. The places that players can visit are varied - the adventure leads not only through idyllic landscapes filled with blooming flora but also through desert areas or even mountain peaks.
DQ11 is based on the Unreal Engine 4 technology, boasting the highest quality graphics - the eyes are especially delighted with the detailed surroundings, although the character models, realized in a characteristic manga style, also deserve attention. It should be noted that Akira Toriyama - the legendary Japanese cartoonist and author of the Dragon Ball saga - took part in the development of the game.
The game received many positive reviews from players and critics. They valued its graphic design, mechanics, turn-based combat, and plot. Some critics called the game one of the best jRPGs ever created. What is more, the game was nominated for many awards and won the title of Best Role-Playing Game at Titanium Awards festival.
