Ultimate Chicken Horse is a 2D multiplayer platform game developed by Clever Endeavour Games and published by the same company in March 2016. The title lets you compete against up to 3 other players, having all of you playing simultaneously on the same map while trying to reach the goal before the rest. What makes the game unique is the fact that players can place different traps and obstacles on the map to hopefully make the course harder for the competition, but easier for themselves, completely changing the layout of the map as the match continues.

Story

Uch game does not feature a story. Instead, it allows you to play competitively with other players in a series of dynamic platform races.

Gameplay and Game Modes

Ultimate Chicken Horse is a party game and is designed to be played with other players, either locally using the shared controller option, or online in a classic multiplayer mode, but may be also played alone in the challenge mode. The default game mode is party mode. Before the game starts, four players meet in a lobby, where they can choose their character and vote the map they will be playing on. 

The match is split into several rounds, and during each round, the player have to reach their goal. Managing to finish the level without dying rewards players with points but arriving first gives more. Whoever gets the highest score after several rounds is declared the winner. Between the rounds, players get to choose an item from the party box they can place on the map – a trap, an obstacle, a consumable boost, or other types of similar objects – in order to make the run harder for competitors, but easier for themselves. This makes each game unique, as players dynamically transform the layout of the map as they play.

Other game modes include the challenge mode, where players can play on various demanding maps and are tasked with reaching the goal in the shortest time possible, or the creative, where players have almost no restrictions on how the map is played.

Reception

Ultimate Chicken Horse received favorable reviews and is a solid position among 2D platform games. Reviewers praised its uniqueness and considered the title a perfect choice when someone looks for a party game to enjoy casually with friends. They appreciated game’s entertainment value, as well as the humorous approach to the genre.
