About Visual Novel Genre
Visual novels (NVL) are a type of digital, interactive form of literary fiction known in Japan as noberu gēmu (ノベルゲーム). This genre is particularly popular in the Land of the Rising Sun, where in 2006 it accounted for nearly 80% of all games released.
Visual novels are characterized by first-person narration, a large amount of text (often accompanied by voice acting and music), and an attractive, though typically static, visual presentation. This format allows for the delivery of extensive, nonlinear stories in a player-friendly way.
