Based on the Chinese novel “Journey to the West”, Black Myth: Wukong is brimming with secrets waiting just around the corner. Let us show you where to find them!

Black Myth is a stunning action title following The Destined One, a monkey warrior on a quest to become a legendary Monkey King.

The game involves exploring ancient locations, battling powerful bosses, and unraveling bits of a gripping storyline. Still, secret areas and Easter eggs are probably the most exciting of its features. You won’t be able to spot the coolest ones by just following the main path, so we’d like to help you discover where to find them!

1. Chapter One: Ancient Guanyin Temple

To reach this location, you must ring all three bells scattered throughout the forests of Chapter One. It’s the first secret area in the game, and doing so will automatically take you to the place.

Once there, you’ll encounter a boss, Elder Jinchi, appearing like the Wandering Wight you’ve probably already met. He’s much easier to defeat, and beating him earns you the Fireproof Mantle Vessel.

2. Chapter One: Transformation Spell: Red Tides

Due to its mighty attacks, it’s one of the best transformations in the game. How to get it? When you find yourself in the Forest of Wolves – Outside the Forest in Black Wind Mountains, locate the wolf boss, Guangzhi.

Defeat him, and you will obtain the valuable Red Tides transformation.

3. Chapter 2: Shigandang

Shigandang is a secret boss who shows up after beating the Stone Vanguard and collecting the eyeballs from all six Buddha heads scattered around the map.

Once you have all six eyeballs, head where you won against the Stone Vanguard and offer them to the strange rock in the middle of the field. Doing so reveals Shigandang – defeat him to obtain the Skandha of Feeling Key Item and the Heart of Stone crafting material.

While the former will prove extremely valuable in later stages, the latter lets you craft the powerful Cloud-Patterned Stone Staff.

4. Chapter 2: The Loong Scales

It’s one of the best hidden secret items in the game, required for defeating the Loong bosses. Get it by heading to the First Prince of Flowing Sands boss room. Make the enemy destroy the wall for you, or do it yourself.

Then, go through the crack in the wall and locate the treasure chest containing Loong Scales. You can now use them to hunt all four Loong bosses.

You can find them behind the waterfall near the Outside the Forest Keeper’s Shrine (Red Loong), near the Rockrest Keeper’s Shrine (Black Loong), near the Turtle Island Keeper’s Shrine (Cyan Loong) and the Relief of the Fallen Loong Keeper’s Shrine (Yellow Loong).

5. Chapter 3: The Snow Fox Revenge

The cutscene between Chapters Two and Three reveals the heartbreaking story of a white fox, saved by a traveler who later kills the animal due to a bad dream.

Unfair, right? Well, Chapter Three gives you the rare opportunity to exact justice by accepting a quest from the corpse of the Snow Fox found near the Forest of Felicity shrine.

His dying wish is for you to find a man known as Non-Void, hiding in the Temple Entrance Shrine.

6. Chapter 3: The Zodiac Village

While this location is unnecessary for completing the entire adventure, it’s worth visiting to gain access to a friendly NPC hub with the only blacksmith in the game.

To find it, complete the questline after defeating Chen Loong on the North Shore of Bitter Lake in Chapter Three and obtain the Ruyi Scroll. Once there, you can challenge Yin Tiger to a fight but don’t have to if your Destined One isn’t ready.

7. Chapter 3: Transformation Spell – Hoarfrost

Hoarfrost is a powerful transformation many miss since it’s obtainable from an optional boss – Monk from the Sea. You will find him on the right side of the New Thunderclap Temple.

When the boss attacks you near the altar, defeat him and enjoy your new transformation.

8. Chapter 4: Purple Cloud Mountain

Purple Cloud Mountain is the largest secret area in the entire game. It gives access to four Keeper’s Shrines (Valley of Blooms, Cloudnest Peak, Bounds of Deity’s Abode, and Petalfall Hamlet) and new boss fights (Scorpionlord, Dukveil, and Daoist Mi). To find this spot, you must first defeat Venom Daoist in two locations – Temple of the Yellow Flower and Webbed Hollow.

9. Chapter 5: Staff of Blazing Karma

Defeat three bosses of Chapter 5 to acquire Samadhi Fire Crystals and create a Staff of Blazing Karma.

You’ll find them in Furnace Valley (Flint Chief), Cooling Slope (Flint Vanguard), and Cooling Slope after offering 4 Flame Ores to summon (Mother of Flamlings).

10. Chapter 6: Mount Mei

If you stumbled upon The Great Pagoda in Chapter 3, you probably know the place didn’t have much to offer. You can change that by completing all the available tasks in Chapter 5 and finishing the Treasure Hunter side quest.

Such a move lets you return to The Great Pagoda and enter one of the tapestries, revealing a new, secret area, Mount Mei.
