Bungie just dropped a massive dev stream for Edge of Fate, and it’s not just another expansion. This is a sweeping overhaul of Destiny 2, from armor and difficulty to leveling and loot.

July 15th is coming in hot, and these are the five biggest shakeups you need to know.

Armor 3.0: New Stats, Tiers & Set Bonuses

Edge of Fate is bringing a big changes here. Armor 3.0 replaces the old stats with six new ones: Weapons, Health, Class, Grenade, Super, and Melee. The cap jumps from 100 to 200, with real bonuses after 100 like faster cooldowns, more ammo, even boss damage buffs.

Legendary gear now drops in five tiers. Tier 5 armor brings 73–75 base stats. Weapons get better perks, enhanced mods, and visual upgrades. Plus, set bonuses are finally here. Wearing 2 or 4 pieces of the same set unlocks unique perks.

Even Artifice armor gets bumped to Tier 3. Masterworking now improves your lowest stat and, on Tier 5s, might unlock a bonus mod slot. New rules, new drip, new builds.

The Portal: Custom Difficulty & Activity Hub

Say goodbye to the old Destinations screen. The Portal is your new activity HQ, featuring Solo Ops, Fireteam Ops (yes, Savathun’s Spire returns), and Pinnacle Ops, where exotic missions stick around for good.

The real kicker is full difficulty control. Add Challenge Modifiers like “Threaded” enemies, or Player Stakes like locked loadouts or no HUD. Want a boost? Add Boons. You’ll even see the loot before you launch.

Inside the Portal, Seasonal Conquests replace Grandmasters with tough content, fixed modifiers, and curated loot. And with Ash & Iron, we get an Ultimate difficulty. Destiny’s difficulty just became fully customizable.

Kepler: New Destination & World Tiers

Kepler is your new home. Four free-roam zones unlock tougher tiers after the campaign: Fabled (Power 150) and Mythic (Power 200). Expect elite enemies, puzzles, and top-tier loot.

A new vendor, Altar of Relativity, lets you trade Kepler materials and Fated Ciphers for focused loot. Daily rotating region focus and attunements help with targeted rolls.

After the campaign, a 3-player matchmade activity unlocks. Think Vex Incursion meets Wellspring. It’s perfect for rerolling exotic armors. Bungie calls Kepler one of Destiny’s deepest zones, packed with secrets and long-term grind.

Power Level & Infusion Overhaul

Everyone resets to Power 10 at launch. From there, you climb to 200 (permanent power). Anything higher becomes seasonal power, resetting every six months. The cap hits 450 mid-season and 550 by the end.

Unstable Cores in Edge of Fate

Infusing gear above 200 now costs Unstable Cores, dismantled from seasonal gear, but they expire at season’s end. Up to 200, it’s still Enhancement Cores. Upgrade Modules are gone.

Guardian Ranks: Simplified & More Fair

Guardian Ranks are getting a reset and a major cleanup. No more walls like solo dungeons, DLC ownership, or commendations. You start at Rank 2, and every season (starting with Ash & Iron) resets you to Rank 6.

Progress now reflects real gameplay: Portal runs, modifiers, Conquests, and power gains. The first five ranks act as a smoother onboarding path.

This system finally feels inclusive. It focuses on what you do, not what you own. For once, Guardian Rank might actually show skill and effort.
