Assassin’s Creed Shadows Final Update

Ubisoft is preparing to release Assassin’s Creed Shadows Title Update 1.1.11 on June 16, 2026. The update is not just a technical patch. It also acts as the game’s final major content drop, adding new endgame content and another story beat for Naoe and Yasuke.

Assassin's Creed Shadows: Last Content Drop Update

The update arrives after months of post-launch support, which included story additions, quality-of-life improvements, balance changes, collaborations, and the Claws of Awaji expansion.

Patch sizes vary by platform. According to Ubisoft, the update is 26.1 GB on Xbox Series X|S, 10.01 GB on PlayStation 5, 9.5 GB on Nintendo Switch 2, 21.69 GB on PC, 10 GB on Steam, and 9 GB on Mac.

Worth Knowing: Ubisoft lists the release time as 14:00 UTC / 10:00 AM EST / 7:00 AM PST, which is 16:00 CEST for players in Poland.

Black Tides Story Quest

The headline addition is Black Tides, a new free story quest designed for players who have already moved beyond the main campaign.

This quest introduces two elite-level Templars known as the Black Cross. They arrive in Japan to hunt Naoe and Yasuke after the trouble the duo has caused, but their mission may not be limited to revenge. As usual with the Templar Order, there appears to be a larger objective hiding beneath the surface.

That puts Naoe and Yasuke in a familiar but dangerous position: stop the Templars from getting what they came for, survive the encounter, and close out this part of the Assassin’s Creed Shadows story.

Black Tides is important because it functions as the final free story quest of the post-launch cycle, giving both protagonists one last major narrative challenge.

How to Unlock Black Tides

Players will not be able to jump straight into Black Tides from a fresh save. Ubisoft lists three requirements for accessing the quest.

Complete the main story

You need to finish Naoe and Yasuke’s main storyline before Black Tides becomes available.

Complete A Critical Encounter

This post-launch quest is one of the required steps before starting Black Tides.

Complete A Puzzlement

The second required post-launch quest must also be finished.

Ubisoft does not list Claws of Awaji as a requirement for Black Tides, so the expansion does not appear to be necessary for accessing this final free story quest.

Domains Endgame Feature

The other major addition is Domains, a new endgame Animus activity built around combat, survival, build crafting, and escalating challenge levels.

Domains is unlocked by reaching level 30. Once available, it gives players access to 5 new gameplay simulations spread across 10 challenge levels.

Ubisoft describes the activity as a way to test RPG builds, with higher difficulties adding more gameplay modifiers. That means a strategy or loadout that works in one Domain may not carry players through the next one.

5 gameplay simulations

Domains adds multiple new combat-focused scenarios rather than a traditional open-world region.

10 challenge levels

The difficulty ramps up as players progress, with more modifiers layered onto later challenges.

Exclusive shop and currency

MOD, an Assassin hacker, brings a dedicated shop and in-game currency tied to Domains progression.

Domain-exclusive rewards

Rewards include new and remixed outfits, weapons, trinkets, engravings, gear sets, and a progression tree.

Ubisoft also notes that Domain rewards will not be added to the store or exchange. They are tied specifically to this endgame feature, making them prestige-style rewards for players who want to push through the hardest challenge levels.

Riptides, Undertow, and Horizon

Title Update 1.1.11 also adds more Animus HUB content beyond Black Tides and Domains.

Riptides & Undertow

Riptides and Undertow are new crossover Projects available through the Animus HUB. These Projects let players unlock themed outfits, weapons, trinkets, and other rewards.

To progress through them, players need to complete Anomalies, similar to previous Animus HUB Projects. Ubisoft says the rewards connect both Assassin’s Creed Shadows and Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced.

There is one important platform note: Ubisoft says these crossover Projects will not be available on Nintendo Switch 2 because they include Black Flag Resynced crossover content, and Black Flag Resynced is not releasing for Nintendo.

Animus Rift: Horizon

The update also adds a new Animus Rift called Horizon. To access it, players must complete the two previous Animus Rifts first.

This gives endgame players another Animus-linked activity to clear alongside the new Domains system.

Other Update Highlights

Aside from new content, the update includes a long list of gameplay, UI, gear, perk, quest, and platform-specific changes.

Some of the more notable adjustments include changes to shuriken damage, boss armor-destruction balance, Yasuke fixes, fall damage adjustments, corrupted castle availability, Forge engraving improvements, world marker behavior, and multiple perk reworks.

Nintendo Switch 2 players are also getting GPU performance improvements in handheld mode.

In other words, Title Update 1.1.11 is both a content drop and a cleanup patch, bringing one final round of tuning before Assassin’s Creed Shadows leaves its major update cycle behind.

Final Thoughts

Assassin’s Creed Shadows is ending its major content support with a fairly packed update. Black Tides gives Naoe and Yasuke one last story quest, while Domains adds a reason for endgame players to revisit their builds, chase exclusive rewards, and test themselves across harder simulations.

The addition of Riptides, Undertow, and Horizon also makes the update feel broader than a simple final mission drop. It ties Shadows more deeply into the Animus HUB and the wider Assassin’s Creed roadmap, especially with Black Flag Resynced rewards entering the mix.

For players who finished the campaign and want one more reason to return to feudal Japan, June 16’s update looks like the closing chapter worth checking out.

Assassin’s Creed Shadows Title Update 1.1.11 adds Black Tides, Domains, Riptides & Undertow, Horizon, exclusive endgame rewards, and a final batch of fixes on June 16, 2026.
