If you would like a few suggestions to spark your own ideas, we’re happy to help you out with a very diverse mix. It features, in no particular order, a brand new game, an awaited expansion, a beloved franchise trying a new format for the first time, a post-apocalyptic all-inclusive trip, and even a bit of software if you’re looking for utility, rather than entertainment.

These five picks are just a sliver of the full scope of the digital offers, but it’s a sliver worth considering. Let’s dive in!

Kingdom Come Deliverance 2

Released date:2025-02-04
Genre:Adventure, RPG
Developer:Warhorse Studios

Henry’s come a long way since being an apprentice blacksmith in a backwater village, and while this path to greatness was prompted by a tragedy, it’s hard to deny it its merits.

Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 picks up where KCD1 left off, and has Henry accompanying Hans Capon, in his full noble foppishness, on a mission of crucial diplomatic importance. Of course, things go immediately wrong and you need to spend some time getting them back on track.

Sid Meier's Civilization VII

Released date:2025-02-11
Genre:Strategy
Developer:Firaxis Games

It seems that Firaxis isn’t yet done with big changes, and Civ7 shakes some things up significantly. For one, there are just three ages — boiling things down to Antiquity, Exploration, and Modern.

You also don’t transition smoothly from one era to another, instead each one is separate, and you need to/get to pick a new civ, usually logically connected, once you move from one on to the next. And that’s still not all the shake-ups! Leader are now also disconnected from civs, so you can mix and match them, with some historically sensible recommendations.

Time will tell whether these changes endure for more than the lifespan of Civilization VII, but they are, as always well executed and Civ7 is, as always, likely to make you play “just one more turn” into the wee hours.

Grand Theft Auto V

Released date:2015-04-14
Genre:Action-adventure
Developer:Rockstar North

Grand Theft Auto 5 is a powerhouse, and the only thing that could threaten its position is the sequel.

GTA6 scheduled for a 2025 release. But! Until that happens, let’s point a little bit more spotlight towards the compelling crime story unfolding in the sunny Los Santos, as a retired thief, a young repo-man, and the retired thief’s slightly unhinged old accomplice find themselves together in a hot mess which will test their patience and trust.

GTA5 is as good a modern open world as it gets, with tons of activities, huge sandbox potential, and three playable, distinct characters. It even has an online version where you can make you own avatar and do some crime with other people!

Project Zomboid

Released date:2013-11-08
Genre:Indie
Developer:The Indie Stone

As far as zombie-themed survival games go, Project Zomboid is easily the most complex.

By screens alone you wouldn’t guess it, but where graphics are relatively simple, the depth of simulation and interaction kicks in, and PZ is undefeated on that front.

Part of the game’s appeal is that at pretty much no point do you become an action hero bunkered up in an unassailable, self-sustaining fortress. You’re still Dave from the suburbs, and if you don’t leave your base to touch grass your mental state will not take that well.

It’s been in Early Access for a long time, but don’t let that deceive you, it’s a fleshed out, detailed, and devilishly engaging (if hard as nails) game.

Game Pass

Genre:Multiple.
Developer:Microsoft / Xbox

Less of a game and more of a great deal for an amazing deal. It’s deal in a deal!

XBox Game Pass

Game Pass is a Microsoft-provided service for Xbox and PC providing access to tons of awesome video games for the price of an affordable subscription. The games on offer include some of the latest releases, so it’s a fantastic way to try new games before committing to buying a key.
