Some of August’s biggest games are already out, while several major releases are still waiting in the second half of the month. Whether you want competitive multiplayer, a demanding single-player RPG, tactical strategy, or a cinematic adventure, there is plenty here to keep the end of summer busy.

  • MARVEL Tōkon: Fighting Souls turns Marvel heroes and villains into a flashy 4v4 tag fighter.
  • Hell Let Loose: Vietnam brings 50v50 tactical warfare into jungles, rivers, tunnels, and helicopters.

Beast of Reincarnation

Genre: Action RPG • Adventure • Single-player

Release date: August 3, 2026

Game Freak stepping away from Pokémon is already enough to make Beast of Reincarnation interesting, but its combat system gives the game a stronger hook than studio history alone.

Credit: GAME FREAK

You directly control Emma in real-time sword combat while issuing tactical commands to Koo, her blighted canine companion. The result sits somewhere between a demanding third-person action RPG and a command-based RPG, with parries, skill trees, different loadouts, stealth options, and abilities built around cooperation between the pair.

The post-apocalyptic Japanese setting also gives it a very different mood from Game Freak’s usual work.

Author Recommendation

After beating Beast of Reincarnation, I can surely say that the game is not as bad as everyone says. It has many flaws, bugs, and some very simple mechanics that could be awesome if developed properly, but BoR was the first game that scratched my brain the way Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice did.

Parrying feels incredible and is very responsive. Combat is the bread and butter of the game. It’s addictive, sometimes challenging, and offers many builds to choose from thanks to its extensive skill trees. There’s also a grappling hook and a dog named Koo, so if you’re a true gamer, you know those are the most important things in action RPGs.

Grab a key for cheap on G2A and dive in to explore the mystery behind the return of the Beast of Reincarnation.

Why You Should Play Beast of Reincarnation

  • Unusual hybrid of real-time combat and command-based abilities.
  • A canine companion who is actually part of the combat system.
  • Atmospheric post-apocalyptic Japan.
  • Good pick for players who like demanding action RPGs with tactical options.

August is only getting busier

August 2026 may have started relatively quietly, but the lineup gets much stronger as the month goes on.

Beast of Reincarnation is the most unusual early-month pick thanks to Game Freak’s action RPG experiment, while MARVEL Tōkon is the obvious choice for competitive players. Hell Let Loose: Vietnam covers the large-scale multiplayer crowd.

The second half belongs to heavier single-player releases. Mortal Shell II arrives on August 20, while August 27 delivers both the tactical Clone Wars campaign of STAR WARS Zero Company and the historical mystery of Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy.

Whatever your preferred genre, August has at least one very good excuse to make more room in the backlog.
