The list of the most popular CD Projekt video games
Action role-playing game released in 2020. The title is based on the Cyberpunk 2020 role-playing game by Mike Pondsmith. The action of the game takes place in 2077 in a huge metropolis built in the middle of nowhere in California.
As suits a city that never sleeps, it has been called Night City. Its population is a literal cross-section of the entire American culture since you can find districts occupied by immigrants, gangs, or controlled by powerful Mega-Corporations.
In Cyberpunk 2077, you play as V and start the game by designing the look of your hero. The character-creating system is highly developed, which allows you to take care of the smallest details of appearance. Then you set off to the city, where you get to know your story while exploring both on foot and by car. During your adventure, you will be accompanied, among others, by Johnny Silverhand, played in this title by the great Keanu Reeves himself.
The first part of the legendary adventures of the witcher Geralt released in 2007. It was also the first of all games created by CD Projekt Red ever. It is a computer role-playing game based on fantasy books by Andrzej Sapkowski, in which the player takes on the role of a professional monster killer.
Geralt is an experienced warrior who owes some of his extraordinary skills to a series of mutations he has encountered in the past. He is provided with two swords – one for monsters and one for humans, and the game uses not only the classic combat system but magic and alchemy as well.
Geralt finds himself back in the witchers’ headquarters – Kaer Morhen. On his way, he meets other witchers, as well as the lovely sorceress Triss Merigold. The peace, however, does not last long, because soon the fortress is attacked by a mysterious group known as Salamandra. The witchers, including Geralt, set off on a journey to unravel the identity of the strange organization.
The second part of a series of video games by CD Projekt Red dedicated to the adventures of Geralt of Rivia. A continuation of the events that took place in the previous part. This time, the witcher is dragged into a dangerous and complicated political intrigue including a mysterious man known as the Kingslayer.
In The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings, the choice system has been greatly developed and each player’s decision has a real impact on what will happen next. The task is not made easier thanks to various side characters who express their own opinions and are guided by their motives. There are also completely new locations to visit, full of quests and monsters.
The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings
The third part of the series devoted to the witcher Geralt, which was released as the GOTY edition and became a real bestseller around the world. Take on the role of a professional monster hunter and travel through the conflict-torn Northern Kingdoms.
This time, there is more than one destination: discover what happened to the child of an ancient prophecy, try to find your only real love, and above all – face the Wild Hunt.
This time, the players can experience a much more extensive world than in the two previous parts. The enormity of locations to explore and the storylines that lead the main story is a guarantee of hundreds of hours of satisfying gameplay. As in all parts of the series, there are plenty of side quests, and the decisions you make have a significant impact on the plot of the following events.
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt
An independent, computer version of the famous card mini-game known from The Witcher: Wild Hunt. Gwent has captured the hearts of so many players that in 2018 it finally got its full, extended version among the other games by CD Projekt Red itself.
Each player has a deck of cards, and the game is played in turn-based mode. Cards have various abilities, including special ones, and the gameplay is aimed at gathering the strongest army possible. Single-player and multiplayer modes are also available. In the first, the player plays a specific story campaign, and in the second, he competes with other players. Gwent: The Witcher Card Game was enthusiastically received by players and collected very good reviews from critics.
The history of CD Projekt Red began with two Polish game enthusiasts: Michał Kiciński and Marcin Iwiński. They knew each other from school and at an early age, used to skip lessons to play video games. They turned their hobby into a business when they decided to start importing and distributing games from abroad, which were not yet so widely available in Poland at this time. In 1994 they started a company operating under the CD Projekt name.
Kiciński and Iwiński designed some Polish game boxes and then began the Polish language adaptation of Baldur’s Gate. This decision turned out to be a huge success and the sales beat all expectations. However, they always dreamed of making their own game, and finally, in 2003 the idea of making the first part of The Witcher was born and then released by the studio in 2007.
From that moment on, the company became well-known everywhere. And when Keanu Reeves appeared in the one of new games announcements of Cyberpunk 2077, the whole world has just gone crazy. Will new CD Projekt Red games continue to be released? For sure. As they say themselves, they are on fire, and they want to make the best role-playing games in the world.
