Their career started simply, but they deserve credit for their commitment and hard work. CD Projekt Red does not release many titles, but when they do, it is a guaranteed smasher.
What are the most famous CD Projekt video games? And how exactly did they achieve such success? Let’s take a closer look.
Cyberpunk 2077
Genre: | Action RPG |
Release date: | 2020-12-10 |
Action role-playing game released in 2020. The title is based on the Cyberpunk 2020 role-playing game by Mike Pondsmith. The action of the game takes place in 2077 in a huge metropolis built in the middle of nowhere in California.
As suits a city that never sleeps, it has been called Night City. Its population is a literal cross-section of the entire American culture since you can find districts occupied by immigrants, gangs, or controlled by powerful Mega-Corporations.
In Cyberpunk 2077, you play as V and start the game by designing the look of your hero. The character-creating system is highly developed, which allows you to take care of the smallest details of appearance. Then you set off to the city, where you get to know your story while exploring both on foot and by car. During your adventure, you will be accompanied, among others, by Johnny Silverhand, played in this title by the great Keanu Reeves himself.

Geralt finds himself back in the witchers’ headquarters – Kaer Morhen. On his way, he meets other witchers, as well as the lovely sorceress Triss Merigold. The history of CD Projekt Red began with two Polish game enthusiasts: Michał Kiciński and Marcin Iwiński. They knew each other from school and at an early age, used to skip lessons to play video games. They turned their hobby into a business when they decided to start importing and distributing games from abroad, which were not yet so widely available in Poland at this time. In 1994 they started a company operating under the CD Projekt name.
Kiciński and Iwiński designed some Polish game boxes and then began the Polish language adaptation of Baldur’s Gate. This decision turned out to be a huge success and the sales beat all expectations. However, they always dreamed of making their own game, and finally, in 2003 the idea of making the first part of The Witcher was born and then released by the studio in 2007.
From that moment on, the company became well-known everywhere. And when Keanu Reeves appeared in the one of new games announcements of Cyberpunk 2077, the whole world has just gone crazy. Will new CD Projekt Red games continue to be released? For sure. As they say themselves, they are on fire, and they want to make the best role-playing games in the world.
