Somebody once said Rome wasn’t built in a day, but that somebody clearly never played Cities: Skylines.
It’s easily one of the best city-building games you could play right now, especially if you’re only interested in modern cities, rather than fantasy or historical ones.
In Cities: Skylines you can plan districts, manage traffic, establish policies, and engage in all the other layers of complex simulation of what running a city would be like if you were a god of infrastructure.
The base game is incredibly content-rich and could last you many, many hours, but there’s also a lot of extra content available through the game’s numerous DLC.
If you’d like nothing more than to enjoy it with all the possible bells and whistles and never risk some mod is going to require a DLC you lack, there’s hope for you yet!
