Clair Obscur: understanding Pictos and Lumina

How to use Pictos?

Pictos are special items in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 you can find while exploring the game world and equip in your playable heroes’ inventory. Each character can equip three Pictos at a time, and you can switch them however you like. Additionally, each Picto provides two different bonuses:

  • Passive abilities that increase the characters’ stats.
  • Lumina effects that provide the character with the equipped Picto with unique traits.

Once your character wins four battles with the equipped Picto, the entire team learns the Lumina effect – that Picto’s passive ability.

It’s a permanent bonus you can activate during combat by spending Lumina points. This way, you can customize the character’s abilities to design the perfect playstyle, improving defense, increasing damage, and more!

What is Lumina?

As you already know, Luminas are passive abilities your teammates can unlock and use during combat. They provide your heroes with special effects or permanent powers working in the background and buffing your team in various ways.

To obtain a Lumina:

  1. Equip a character with a Picto.
  2. After four battles with that Picto, you will unlock the Lumina.
  3. Use that Lumina, provided you have enough Lumina points.

Each Lumina costs a certain amount of Lumina points, which you can earn by leveling up or collecting and using Colors of Lumina. You can also combine different Luminas to create unique combinations of passive abilities.
