Toby Fox’s team says it is currently aiming for a 2027 release, with more development updates planned over time.

The update comes shortly after Chapter 5 launched on June 24, 2026. The release gave Deltarune a major Steam boost, with SteamDB listing a new all-time peak of 291,816 concurrent players on launch day.

What did Toby Fox say about Chapter 6?

The updated Steam FAQ confirms that Deltarune is not ending with Chapter 5. When asked about Chapter 6, the page says the team is aiming for a 2027 release and will periodically share more information about development progress.

Toby Fox also shared a separate Chapter 6 progress update in the newsletter. According to that update, Chapter 6 is “developing well,” with progress on cutscenes, NPC interactions, overworld gameplay, enemies, bullets, and boss content.

Worth Knowing: “Aiming for 2027” is not the same as a locked release date. Chapter 6 should be treated as planned for 2027, but still subject to development changes.

Chapter 5 gave Deltarune a huge Steam spike

Deltarune Chapter 5 launched as the newest free update for players who own the full game. The official site now lists Chapters 1-5 as available, with more chapters planned as free updates.

The launch also brought the game its highest Steam activity yet. SteamDB lists 291,816 as the all-time concurrent player peak, reached on June 24, 2026.
