All fans of sports games and the iconic FIFA series published by EA are eagerly awaiting September 27th – this is the day when EA SPORTS FC25 will be released!

The EA SPORTS FC series is the next line of football games released by the previously mentioned studio, which replaced the FIFA series due to the expiration of the long-standing licence in 2023.

The creators decided to continue their work and still provide football fans around the world with excellent, realistic simulation games where we can take on the roles of real players from the world’s top leagues.

So far, two instalments of this rebranded series have been released: EA SPORTS FC 24 and EA SPORTS FC 25. Have you already had a chance to play last year’s title?

Or maybe you’d like to learn a bit more about it? Today, we’ll present you with a brief comparison of both games – which one is worth playing!

EA SPORTS FC24 and EA SPORTS FC25 Gameplay

Like the entire FIFA series, both EA SPORTS FC instalments focus on football matches, which can be played solo or with up to 21 other players. Both games allow us to start a Career mode (where we can gradually develop our player’s skills and climb the football career ladder) as well as various types of friendly matches.

In terms of similarities, in both games we can also choose the Ultimate Team mode (allowing us to build and develop our own team, including mixed players) and Clubs (allowing the development of selected players and matches with friends).

EA SPORTS FC 24 also added modes such as Volta Football (inspired by street football), Kick Off (for quick matches), Skill Games (a mode to improve skills), Practice Arena, and Training Centre, as well as several co-op modes. Some of these modes were previously introduced in the last FIFA games and have returned in this edition.

In EA SPORTS FC 25, however, new modes have been introduced. The most notable are 5v5 Rush (5-player matches on smaller pitches) and FC IQ (a gameplay mode focusing on the tactical and strategic aspects of matches).

Audiovisual Presentation

Both titles are new games – FC24 was released on September 29, 2023, while FC25 will be released at the end of September 2024. Therefore, both offer players great, realistic graphics created with the Frostbite engine.

It’s also worth mentioning that EA has been striving for many years to create their football games with the greatest possible accuracy and realism (according to the available technical capabilities) to faithfully replicate not only the appearance of players but also their movements.

Both games use HyperMotionV technology, which has taken this realism to an even higher level (this technology uses real volumetric data from actual matches).

Although both titles have similar GPU requirements, the graphics in FC25 are slightly different from those presented in the previous game – the players’ faces simply look better and more realistic. In terms of music, we can expect a similar soundscape in both games – natural match sounds and commentators, as well as pleasant, gameplay-matching music.

Ratings and Reviews

What would a game comparison be without considering player and critic ratings?

For EA SPORTS FC 24, the ratings are mixed, and the game, averaging scores from several sites, is rated around 7/10 – the same rating appeared on IGN. On Metacritic, FC24 is rated between 67/100 (Switch) and 79/100 (PC).

On Steam, about 59% of users rate the game positively. Meanwhile, The Guardian and GamesRadar rate this title between 4-4.5 out of 5 stars.

Given that there’s still some time left before the official release of EA SPORTS FC 25, we can currently rely on the ratings from players and critics who had the chance to play the BETA version. These are similar to the previous instalment, though the new modes introduced are notably highlighted.

EA SPORTS FC 24 vs 25 – Which One to Choose?

Well, the answer to this question isn’t straightforward – both games are very similar. It’s difficult to expect spectacular changes in titles released year after year on the same platforms, with the same graphics engines, and very similar requirements.

The decision on which one to choose should depend on whether you want to play now or prefer to wait a bit. FC 24 is just a few clicks or a visit to a store away. It’s also worth noting that the price of this instalment has already dropped slightly.

What significantly differentiates the two titles are the game modes and gameplay – they differ slightly in both cases and have different features that might appeal to different players.
