Elden Ring has six endings, but only three ending-related achievements or trophies. That means you do not need to finish the game six times just to earn every achievement.
Four endings are variations of becoming Elden Lord, while Age of the Stars and Lord of Frenzied Flame have their own achievements. The difficult part is preparing the right questlines before reaching the final choice.
FromSoftware rarely puts a big neon sign above its most important decisions, and Elden Ring certainly does not make its endings obvious. Some require lengthy NPC quests, some need special Mending Runes, and one can temporarily lock you out of every other ending.
This guide explains all six Elden Ring endings, which achievements they unlock, what you need before the final boss, and how to escape the Frenzied Flame if curiosity got the better of you.
TL;DR – All Elden Ring Endings
Can you get every Elden Ring ending in one playthrough?
Normally, one completed playthrough gives you one ending. You can then enter New Game Plus and work toward another.
It is possible to prepare several ending questlines simultaneously. After defeating the final boss, the Mending Runes you have collected and Ranni’s summon sign can give you multiple choices.
Players also use save backups shortly before selecting an ending, reload that save, and choose another outcome. The exact backup process differs between PC, PlayStation, and Xbox, so do not assume cloud synchronization automatically gives you a convenient restore point. If you plan to do this, check the save-management options for your platform first.
Important: inheriting the Frenzied Flame locks you into its ending unless you later remove it with Miquella’s Needle. If you want easy access to several endings at the finale, leave the Three Fingers alone until you know what you are doing.
Which Elden Ring endings have achievements?
Only three endings have dedicated achievements or trophies: Elden Lord, Age of the Stars, and Lord of Frenzied Flame.
Age of Fracture, Age of the Duskborn, Age of Order, and Blessing of Despair are all Elden Lord variants. Finishing any one of those grants the same Elden Lord achievement.
Age of Fracture
Age of Fracture is the default ending. No special NPC quest or Mending Rune is required.
Defeat the final boss, approach Fractured Marika, and choose to mend the Elden Ring without using one of the alternate Mending Runes. Your Tarnished becomes Elden Lord and restores the fractured order.
Achievement: Elden Lord
Age of the Duskborn
This ending is connected to Fia and the mystery surrounding Godwyn, the Prince of Death.
Complete Fia’s quest and defeat Lichdragon Fortissax to obtain the Mending Rune of the Death-Prince. After the final boss, use that rune on Fractured Marika.
The resulting age incorporates the principle of life within death into the restored order.
Achievement: Elden Lord
Age of Order
The Age of Order requires the quest involving Brother Corhyn and Goldmask.
Follow their journey through Altus Plateau and Leyndell, solve Goldmask’s major revelation involving Radagon, and continue the quest far enough to receive the Mending Rune of Perfect Order.
Use it after the final boss to establish Goldmask’s version of a perfected order.
Achievement: Elden Lord
Missable: Corhyn and Goldmask’s progression is sensitive to late-game world changes. If you want this ending, complete their Leyndell-related steps before pushing too far through the endgame.
Blessing of Despair
If helping the Dung Eater spread his curse sounds like an excellent use of your new royal authority, this is your ending.
Advance Dung Eater’s quest, find the required Seedbed Curses, and use them on his physical body beneath Leyndell. Completing this route rewards the Mending Rune of the Fell Curse.
Use the rune on Fractured Marika after the final battle to curse the restored order and future generations with the Dung Eater’s defilement.
Achievement: Elden Lord
Age of the Stars
Age of the Stars is the major alternative ending tied to Ranni the Witch.
Her quest is one of the longest in Elden Ring and takes you through areas including Nokron, Nokstella, the Lake of Rot, and the Moonlight Altar. Eventually, you acquire the Dark Moon Ring and complete Ranni’s quest beneath the Cathedral of Manus Celes.
After defeating the final boss, do not interact with Marika. Look for Ranni’s blue summon sign nearby and summon her instead.
The ending begins Ranni’s new age and removes the immediate order governing the Lands Between from the world itself. Exactly what that means remains deliberately open to interpretation, which is part of why this ending has generated so much discussion.
Achievement: Age of the Stars
Lord of Frenzied Flame
The most destructive route is hidden deep beneath Leyndell.
Travel through the Subterranean Shunning-Grounds, defeat Mohg, the Omen, find the hidden path behind his arena, and descend to the Frenzied Flame Proscription. Remove your equipment before opening the sealed door and meeting the Three Fingers.
Accepting their embrace marks your Tarnished with the Frenzied Flame. Unless you cure it, this overrides the normal ending choices and leads to the Lord of Frenzied Flame ending after the final boss.
Hyetta’s quest provides additional context and rewards for this route, but completing her entire storyline is not required simply to inherit the flame.
Achievement: Lord of Frenzied Flame
How to remove the Frenzied Flame with Miquella’s Needle
Changed your mind after meeting the Three Fingers? Elden Ring gives you one escape route, but it is hardly a quick trip to the doctor.
- Complete Millicent’s questline while supporting her at its critical final choice.
- Recover the Unalloyed Gold Needle.
- Defeat Malenia, Blade of Miquella.
- Use the Unalloyed Gold Needle on the Scarlet Aeonia left in Malenia’s arena to receive Miquella’s Needle.
- Reach Dragonlord Placidusax’s arena in Crumbling Farum Azula.
- Use Miquella’s Needle inside the arena to remove the Frenzied Flame.
You do not need to defeat Placidusax merely to use the needle. Once the Frenzied Flame is removed, the other eligible ending choices become available again.
Does Shadow of the Erdtree add a seventh Elden Ring ending?
No. Shadow of the Erdtree has its own conclusion to Miquella’s story, but it does not add another option to the base game’s final choice at Fractured Marika.
Finishing the expansion does not unlock an Age of Miquella ending, an additional Mending Rune, or another ending achievement. The base game still has the same six endings.

Elden Ring endings FAQ
How many endings does Elden Ring have?
Elden Ring has six base-game endings: Age of Fracture, Age of the Duskborn, Age of Order, Blessing of Despair, Age of the Stars, and Lord of Frenzied Flame.
Do you need all six endings for 100% achievements?
No. You need the Elden Lord, Age of the Stars, and Lord of Frenzied Flame achievements. Any of the four Elden Lord variants can unlock Elden Lord.
Can you complete Ranni’s quest and still choose another ending?
Yes. Completing Ranni’s quest gives you her summon sign after the final boss, but you are not forced to use it.
Does accepting the Frenzied Flame permanently ruin your save?
No. Miquella’s Needle can remove the Frenzied Flame in Dragonlord Placidusax’s arena, although obtaining it requires completing Millicent’s quest and defeating Malenia.
Which Elden Ring ending is the best?
There is no officially designated good ending. Age of the Stars is a popular choice, but all six reflect different answers to the problems of the Lands Between. Pick the philosophy, character, or level of apocalyptic chaos that suits your Tarnished.
Choose Your Age
Elden Ring’s finale is less about stumbling into the right dialogue option and more about everything you did before reaching the Erdtree.
If you only want every ending achievement, focus on one Elden Lord ending, Age of the Stars, and Lord of Frenzied Flame. If you want to see every possible fate of the Lands Between, complete the Fia, Goldmask, Dung Eater, and Ranni questlines too.
Just remember one rule: when a suspicious underground door asks you to remove all your clothes before opening it, perhaps make a backup first.
