Star Wars Outlaws is a 2024 action-adventure game where you’ll be playing as Kay Vess, a young lawbreaker who climbs up the criminal underworld’s ladders as she prepares for one, big job.
The game features a reputation system that allows players to alter interactions with large parts of the game’s open-world environment, depending on their choices and completed missions.
If you’re curious about the game’s criminal organizations that can become your friends or foes, we’ve got you covered. Here’s a simple reputation guide that covers all you need to know about factions and reputation in Star Wars Outlaws.
Reputation in Star Wars Outlaws Explained
There are four factions you can directly interact with in Star Wars Outlaws. However, you can’t join any of them. Instead, the game features a reputation system; based on your actions and achievements during play, each criminal syndicate will gradually change their opinion about you, for better, or worse.
Continuous negative interactions with a chosen gang will make you their sworn enemy while doing them favors and completing their missions will improve your standings.
Reputation Levels and General Consequences
As your reputation with the faction changes, it will eventually reach one of the available thresholds, altering possible interactions with that faction.
If reputation keeps decreasing, you’ll start facing a more aggressive and hostile response from its members; similarly, if it keeps increasing, you’ll get access to more benefits.
Reputation has the following levels, ranked from worst to best: Terrible, Bad, Poor, Good, Excellent, Max.
Reputation with all factions starts at a Poor rank. This is the default reputation rank and doesn’t offer any special privileges, nor does it make your life any harder, other than preventing you from accessing some areas requiring a higher reputation.
Continuous hostile actions against a faction will inevitably put you at a Bad rank. At this point, your job options for that faction will become limited and you’ll be charged extra when dealing with faction merchants.
Going a step further, you’ll reach a Terrible rank. This will put a mark on your back and you’ll be actively hunted by the faction and their prices will increase even more.
Going the good guy route, you’ll eventually reach a Good rank. That’s when you’ll start unlocking previously inaccessible areas. You’ll also enjoy discounts at faction merchants, you’ll get more job opportunities, and you’ll also get a special gift upon getting there for the first time.
The next step is an Excellent rank. You’ll be able to not only access all areas belonging to this faction but you’ll also be allowed to pick up items found there without consequences. You’ll get a reward, too.
The pinnacle of the reputation system is a Max rank. Reaching it for the first time will reward you with a full set of faction armor that not only looks cool but also provides some unique bonuses.
Can I Reach Max Reputation with All Factions Simultaneously?
As you get further into the game you may start facing dilemmas, such as which faction to stick to, which one to help, and which one to ignore.
Helping one may upset the other, as, technically speaking, all factions are hostile toward each other, and you wouldn’t want to be caught helping the enemies of your enemies.
With that being said, it is entirely possible to ally all of them simultaneously, although you’ll have to play smart and work overtime to achieve that.
How to Get Max Reputation with All Factions?
While exploring the world of Star Wars Outlaws, you’ll find a number of Contract Brokers. They are special NPCs that will offer you simple missions that can be repeated as many times as you want; this will be your main source of extra reputation points.
The missions are divided into 4 groups: thief, infiltrator, enforcer, and smuggler.
Doing favors for one faction may upset the others. For example, you may be tasked by The Pyke to steal an item from the Crimson Dawn place, which will damage your reputation with the latter if you get discovered. As such, the key to maxing out reputation with all factions is stealth.
If you remain undetected, you will not lose any reputation when acting against a certain faction, so avoid getting into fights as you complete the contracts and you’ll eventually reach the excellent rank with all criminal syndicates.
If you’re not into min-maxing your playthrough and getting 100% completion in games, it may be more reasonable for you to consider the pros and cons of each faction and decide where to focus your effort, so you get access to the benefits that will be most useful to you, rather than unlocking everything there is to see.
The Pyke Syndicate
The Pyke Syndicate focuses on spice dealing; they excel at bribing and smuggling and put emphasis on advanced weaponry.
It’s one of the first factions you’ll be able to interact with and it’s also one of the two factions recommended to befriend when you start playing SW Outlaws. That’s because the first part of the game takes place in areas largely controlled by Pyke. As such, turning them hostile can make the beginning of your journey significantly more difficult.
If you manage to get Good reputation with this faction, you’ll get a blaster cosmetic, Imperial Coating.
At Excellent reputation you can expect a charm/accessory, Pyke Syndicate Crest, that gives a small chance to gain a grenade when thrown.
Max reputation will reward you with a full Imperial Disguise outfit that will make it harder for Imperials to spot you; it also helps to lose Wanted levels at a faster rate.
The Crimson Dawn
The Crimson Dawn is the other organization recommended to befriend at the beginning of your Outlaws journey. They are masters of working silently from the shadows, excelling at collecting information and using it against the competition. If there’s blackmail, extortion, or manipulation involved, The Crimson Dawn are the people for the job.
Bringing the reputation up to a Good rank with this faction gives access to Crimson Reign Coating for the blaster.
An Excellent rank will get you a Crimson Dawn Crest charm/accessory that will help you avoid detection.
Finally, at Max reputation, you’ll get access to a full Crimson Reign outfit which, when worn, will make you more efficient at using smoke bombs.
The Hutt Cartel
The Hutt Cartel is an old and powerful one. These people prefer the use of raw power to assert dominance and get rid of competition. Physical force and violence are the Cartel’s bread and butter; their members are brutal and aggressive; they won’t beat around the bush. If there’s an organization you wouldn’t want to cross paths with, it’s this one.
Getting Good standings with the Cartel will give you Boonta Brawler Coating for the blaster.
Excellent rank will reward you with a charm/accessory, Hutt Cartel Crest, that will increase your survivability against melee attacks.
Maxing out this faction’s reputation will be rewarded with a full Boonta Brawler outfit that provides bonuses focused on the use of adrenaline.
The Ashiga Clan
The Ashiga Clan becomes available later in the game and, of all the crime syndicates you’ll encounter in the game, is arguably the most unique one.
It’s ruled by insectoids that serve Queen Ashiga and The Hive. Valuing the survival of the collective more than their own lives, members of The Ashiga Clan form a force to be reckoned with. Influenced by Japanese culture, these excellent weapon dealers are extremely efficient at carrying out a variety of tasks.
If you get to Good reputation with them, you’ll be rewarded with Kijimi Explorer Coating for your blaster.
Going further up to Excellent reputation will be rewarded with an Ashiga Clan Crest charm/accessory that will replenish your health when performing melee takedowns and finishers.
Faction rewards for those who manage to go all the way to Max rank include a full Kijimi Explorer outfit; wear it to get a boost to your combat capabilities when your life gets low enough.
Zerek Besh
Zerek Besh is a special faction in such a sense that you can’t work for them and you can’t alter your reputation with them in any way. They act as the game’s main antagonists; however, it still counts as one of the factions you’ll encounter during play, hence the mention.
The Empire
Similarly to Zerek Besh, The Empire is not a faction you can work for but the role they play in the game is important nonetheless. They are primarily tasked with maintaining order. The Empire is involved in the game’s Wanted system, hunting down criminals and enforcing the law. As such, whenever you break the rules, the Empire forces will most likely be the first enemies you’ll need to deal with.
Conclusion
The reputation system in Star Wars Outlaws is easy to understand and follows crystal clear rules. However, you can better plan your Outlaws journey if you first take a moment to familiarize yourself with available factions.
This way you’ll be able to focus your efforts on working for the factions that will give you the rewards you want the most, leaving the less interesting ones for later.
This may be especially useful if you’re not interested in doing a full completionist run, as maxing out reputations for all factions simultaneously can be a bit challenging and time-consuming.
