Shadow of Mordor features a lot of mechanics that the fans of Assassin’s Creed will like. The open world of Mordor is divided into two distinct regions – the desolate Udun and the lush seaside of Nurn. The areas in each region are unlocked by interacting with Forge Towers, similar to Assassin’s Creed synchronization points. The free-flow combat mechanics are more similar to the Batman: Arkham series, but those who had played any of the AC games will find themselves right at home in the system of parries and counterattacks.

Batman: Arkham Knight

On the night of Halloween, Scarecrow sends a terrifying message to the citizen of Gotham City. His new fear toxin will be unleashed upon the city unless Batman surrenders.

With most of the citizens evacuated, the city is overtaken by criminals, led by a mysterious Arkham Knight. Supported by Jim Gordon, the remnants of GCPD and other allies – The Oracle, Nightwing, and Alfred – Batman embarks on the mission that will test not only his body but his mind as well.

Batman: Arkham Knight is the final installment in the Arkham series, developed by Rocksteady, and quite possibly the best Batman game ever. The fans of Assassin’s Creed will definitely appreciate the expansive stealth options – the Dark Knight has at his disposal a variety of tools to distract and take down enemies. Exploration of the open-world environment of Gotham City is another selling point of the game. In this installment, Batman can not only glide across the night sky but drive the Batmobile, his signature vehicle.

Dishonored

Mad Max

His name is Max. His world is fire and blood. And the player’s job will be to help him get back at the warlord who stole his car and left him to die in the wasteland.

With the help of a hunchback mechanic Chumbucket, Max will build a new cart and show the Warboys roaming the region why he is called the Road Warrior.

Watch Dogs: Legion shares the setting with Assassin’s Creed: Syndicate – the more observant fans of AC’s Victorian London escapade will notice similarities in locations and certain characters (the Kelley Gang look oddly similar to Templar-controlled Blighters).

The gameplay features are also similar, with the player exploring London, unlocking new regions on the map, collecting various trinkets, and finally carrying story missions and sidequests. All that as one of several hundred unique citizens of London, which player can convince to join the Dedsec cause.

Ghost of Tsushima

Lead by Jin Sakai, they fight the invader but are quickly overrun. Seeing no other choice, the lord of the region surrenders, allowing the Mongols to take over. Sakai avoids capture and begins his own quest to unite scattered samurai and win back the land from the invaders.

Fans of the Assassin’s Creed series have long been waiting for a game set in feudal Japan. While Ubisoft is still secretive about whether the next installment of the AC series will take us there, Ghost of Tsushima should help the player bind the time. The game has everything the fans of Assassin’s Creed could ever want – open-world setting, gameplay that combines stealth and action, and collectibles to find here and there. Add to that the long-awaited setting of samurai-era Japan, and you have a game that will definitely satisfy the Assassin enthusiasts.

InFamous: Second Son

inFamous: Second Son picks up not long after the protagonist of the series, Cole McGrath, sacrificed himself to save the world and rid people of their Conduit powers.

Now, the remaining Conduits are hunted by the government and dubbed as bioterrorists. Delsin Rowe, a young graffiti artist with the power to mimic other conduit skills, arrives in Seattle to search for Brook Augustine, an anti-Conduit task force leader and the only person with the power to save Delsin’s people.

inFamous: Second Son takes the player to an open-world Seattle, which they can freely explore in between missions. The city has been faithfully reconstructed in the game, with the digital versions of its landmarks such as the Space Needle. The gameplay focuses on exploration and combat, both of which make use of Delsin’s powers. In addition, the game features the Karma system, by which choices made by the player throughout the gameplay affect the ending.

Prince of Persia: The Two Thrones

After the events on the Island of Time, the Prince and Empress Kaileena return to Babylon only to see it in ruins.

The Prince’s choice to fight his fate caused a ripple effect that leads the city to be taken by the Vizier, who kills Kaileena and steals the Dagger of Time. The Prince must now fight through Viziers minions, possessed by the Sands of Time, and free his homeland from Vizier’s tyranny.

Prince of Persia: The Two Thrones introduces several interesting mechanics. The first of them is the character of Dark Prince, the protagonist’s cruel and vicious alter-ego, who takes over the Prince’s body at several stages of the game. The other mechanic is the stealth-focused speed kill system, which allows the Prince to kill enemies quickly and quietly. Pressing the attack button as the Prince’s blade begins to glow initiates a QTE, during which the protagonist stabs the unsuspecting enemy to death. Those familiar with the lethal effects of the Assassins’ Hidden Blade will definitely appreciate this mechanic.

Mirror's Edge Catalyst

A powerful Conglomerate rules the City of Glass. Every person in the city has a corporate role assigned to them.

Those who oppose the system are forced to live on the roofs of the high-rise buildings, making their living as runners – couriers dealing with illegal goods. One of such runners is Faith Connors, the female protagonist of the game. Making an uneasy return to the business after spending time behind bars, Faith is thrown into a conspiracy tied to the history of the city and her own family.

The original Mirror’s Edge, released in 2008, was an interesting combination of an FPS and platformer.

The 2016 reboot drops the former genre, focusing solely on acrobatic exploration. The player will run, jump, roll and dash across the roofs and vents, carrying out dangerous missions and avoiding capture by the security forces. If you are fond of the parkour elements of the Assassin’s Creed games, then you will definitely enjoy a game that emphasizes that gameplay aspect.

A classic game in the stealth genre, featuring the OG assassin. This episodic title sends 47 to the most exotic locations in the world to take down elusive targets. The player is given a free choice of how they’ll dispose of their targets – the game rewards creativity, so dropping an ornate chandelier on the target’s head or sending them falling off the balcony is always a better choice of action than simply shooting them in the head. The players who enjoyed the different assassination approaches in AC: Syndicate should definitely enjoy this mechanic.
