Generation Zero was released on March 26th, 2019, for PC and consoles (PlayStation 4 and Xbox One). The game was primarily designed for cooperative multiplayer gameplay, but it also offers a single-player mode.
The action of Generation Zero takes place in Sweden during the 1980s. Our protagonist returns home after a holiday to find the country in ruins and overrun by machines. Our task is to survive and uncover the origins and purpose of the hostile machines. Interestingly, when playing alone, we won’t encounter any other human characters.
Gameplay in GZ also surprises at times. It’s not just another first-person shooter. Our character can sneak, but the lack of tall grass and other environmental elements to hide in makes it challenging. Additionally, the fact that our enemies are machines adds to the complexity, with some of them having heightened perception, capable of detecting even the sound of weapon reloading.
