The update appeared in Games Workshop’s annual report, which also revealed new animated projects based on Warhammer: Age of Sigmar and the Deathwatch Space Marines.
Mike Flanagan Is Moving on to the Script
Amazon has brought United Artists and Mike Flanagan onto the long-term Warhammer 40,000 film and television partnership. Henry Cavill and production company Vertigo remain involved in the project.
According to Games Workshop, the initial story outlines have been completed and Flanagan should soon begin work on the script. The company warned that the adaptations will take years to reach audiences and did not reveal a title, format, story, or release date.
Flanagan is best known for horror productions including The Fall of the House of Usher, Midnight Mass, and The Haunting of Hill House. His involvement suggests that Amazon’s adaptation could lean into the darker and more unsettling elements of the Warhammer 40,000 universe.

Age of Sigmar Is Coming to Secret Level
Games Workshop also confirmed that an Age of Sigmar episode for the second season of Amazon’s Secret Level is almost complete.
The first season featured the Warhammer 40,000 episode And They Shall Know No Fear, which followed Titus after the events of Space Marine 2. Season 2 will instead introduce viewers to Games Workshop’s fantasy Age of Sigmar setting.
Amazon Is Developing a Deathwatch Animated Series
A full animated Warhammer 40,000 series focused on the Deathwatch is also in development for Amazon.
The series will be written by John Orloff, whose credits include Band of Brothers and Masters of the Air. Blur Studio, which worked on Secret Level and Love, Death & Robots, will handle the animation.
The Deathwatch is a specialized Space Marine force connected to the Inquisition’s Ordo Xenos. Its members are recruited from different Space Marine Chapters and tasked with fighting alien threats across the Imperium.
No release dates have been announced for the live-action Warhammer 40,000 project, the Age of Sigmar episode, or the Deathwatch series.
