The Leak Gives Us a Better Look at GTA VI’s HUD and Player Systems
Other reported details involve systems that are much harder to judge from short clips.
Viewers have spotted what appear to be separate wallet and safehouse cash indicators, stamina information, an updated phone interface, and a devil-like status icon that some have compared to Red Dead Redemption 2’s morality systems.
That last interpretation deserves particular caution. An icon appearing after an aggressive NPC interaction does not automatically mean GTA VI has a full Honor system.
What seems more significant is the broader pattern. Rockstar appears to be experimenting with more information about identity, possessions, vehicles, player condition, and contextual interaction than GTA V displayed through its standard HUD.
Why the GTA VI Leak May Be From 2024 or Earlier

Insider Gaming reports that an analysis of the basketball video found it had been encoded using FFmpeg 6.1, specifically Lavc60.31.102 and Lavf60.16.100. FFmpeg 6.1 was released in November 2023.
That gives us a technical boundary, but not the simple answer some posts initially claimed.
The metadata tells us about the software used to encode or convert the file. It does not tell us when the gameplay was originally recorded.
The footage could have been captured before that date and converted later. It could also have been recorded well after November 2023 using an older version of FFmpeg.
Insider NateTheHate has separately suggested that the footage is more than a year old and is not connected to the current round of reported GTA VI preview events. That would place it around 2024 or earlier, but an exact build date remains unverified.
This matters because judging GTA VI’s graphics, animations, physics, or polish from the leak could be deeply misleading if the clips really are two years removed from release.
What About the Alleged Full Leonida Map?
A map also circulated alongside the gameplay footage, reportedly dividing Leonida into five counties:
- Kelly County
- Lummox County
- Leonard County
- Vice Dale County
- Mariana County
Lummox has attracted particular attention because it had not been as prominent in previously discussed official material.
However, the map should currently be treated with more skepticism than the gameplay clips. GameSpot notes that it is not clear whether the image originated from Rockstar or was produced by fans using known locations and community mapping work.
