Cyberpunk 2077 Update 2.5 finally lets V fight with a gun in each hand, and the strongest launch-day direction is a fast Cool-focused gunslinger built around Power Pistols, headshots, mobility, and Sandevistan.

The new Double Trouble perk sits in the Cool tree and works specifically with Power Pistols and Power Revolvers, so Smart and Tech handguns do not qualify.

For a Level 60 Phantom Liberty character, our recommended attribute spread is 20 Cool, 20 Technical Ability, 20 Reflexes, 18 Body, and 3 Intelligence. Cool powers the handgun core, Technical Ability expands your cyberware potential, Reflexes keeps the build fast, and Body provides enough survivability to stay aggressive at close and medium range.

For weapons, the most fitting starting point is the pair of La Chingona Dorada Power Pistols associated with Jackie Welles. If you prefer heavier single-shot damage, a Power Revolver setup built around Archangel is the natural alternative.

Best dual-wield build at a glance: Cool 20 / Technical Ability 20 / Reflexes 20 / Body 18 / Intelligence 3, Double Trouble plus its four supporting perks, the established Focus and Deadeye handgun branch, Power Pistols or Revolvers, and a Sandevistan operating system. This is a launch-day research build based on confirmed 2.5 mechanics rather than a claim about a settled endgame meta.

CYBERPUNK 2077

Two guns are finally better than one

Update 2.5 adds an entirely new gunslinger path built around dual Power Pistols and Revolvers, giving returning players a fresh reason to respec V and hit Night City again.

How to unlock dual-wielding in Cyberpunk 2077 Update 2.5

Dual-wielding is not automatically enabled when you install Update 2.5. The mechanic is attached to the new Double Trouble perk in the Cool tree.

CD PROJEKT RED also added four auxiliary perks around Double Trouble, creating a dedicated progression branch for the new playstyle. The developer’s written patch notes confirm those four perks but do not list their individual names or numerical effects, so we are not assigning invented values to them here.

Once Update 2.5 is installed, take Double Trouble and the four perks directly supporting its branch if dual-wielding is the focus of your character. Then build outward into the established handgun side of Cool.

Weapon restriction: Double Trouble works with handguns from the Power category. Tech Pistols and Smart Pistols are not part of the officially confirmed dual-wield system.

Best attributes for a dual-wield gunslinger

At Level 60 with Phantom Liberty, this spread gives the build everything it needs without wasting points on hacking:

AttributeLevelWhy it matters
Cool20Double Trouble, handgun perks, headshot damage, Focus and Deadeye.
Technical Ability20Cyberware capacity and high-end chrome support.
Reflexes20Dash, Air Dash and mobility for aggressive gunfights.
Body18Extra survivability when fighting outside cover.
Intelligence3This version uses Sandevistan rather than a Cyberdeck.

Attribute leveling order

  1. Cool to the threshold required for Double Trouble and the handgun tree.
  2. Cool to 20 for the complete handgun setup.
  3. Technical Ability to 20 as cyberware becomes more important.
  4. Reflexes to 15–20 for Dash and Air Dash.
  5. Put remaining points into Body for survivability.

Best perks for the Update 2.5 dual-wield build

1. Double Trouble and its four supporting perks

This is the reason the build exists. Take Double Trouble first, then prioritize the four auxiliary perks attached to its branch if your goal is a dedicated two-gun character.

CDPR has confirmed the branch but has not published the individual names and values of those four auxiliary perks in the written notes. Their in-game descriptions should therefore be treated as the authoritative source once your 2.5 client is updated.

2. Focus

Focus is the foundation of the established Cool handgun tree. It supports Pistols and Revolvers with extra headshot and weakspot damage while also improving stamina efficiency during precision shooting.

3. Deadeye

Deadeye becomes the main precision engine at high Cool. While active at high stamina, it increases headshot and weakspot damage and removes bullet spread, which is exactly what an aggressive handgun build wants when trying to turn two guns into controlled burst damage rather than random spray.

4. California Reaper

Headshot and weakspot eliminations restore stamina. That feeds directly back into Deadeye and helps keep its high-stamina condition active through consecutive kills.

5. High Noon

High Noon improves the reload that follows a headshot or weakspot elimination while Deadeye is active and briefly slows time during that reload. Dual-wielding makes reload management especially important, so this is an obvious gunslinger pick.

6. Long Shot and Quick Draw

Long Shot removes damage falloff while Deadeye is active, letting the build stretch beyond close-range gunfights. Quick Draw improves weapon-swap speed and restores stamina when swapping to compatible handguns during combat.

7. Run ‘N’ Gun

For the pistol version of the build, Run ‘N’ Gun is the natural Cool 20 capstone. Hip-firing Pistols no longer consumes stamina, while Focus also grants additional movement speed. That suits an aggressive character who is constantly repositioning instead of sitting behind cover.

Reflexes: Dash and Air Dash

Once the Cool core is online, build into the Reflexes mobility branch. Dash lets you break lines of fire or close distance, while Air Dash makes repositioning across arenas substantially faster.

Technical Ability: build around cyberware

Technical Ability is here primarily because late-game Cyberpunk builds live and die by their chrome. Perks such as All Things Cyber, License to Chrome, and eventually Edgerunner help support a high-capacity cyberware setup rather than directly increasing pistol damage.

Best weapons for the Cyberpunk 2077 dual-wield build

Best thematic pair: La Chingona Dorada

There may not be a more appropriate weapon for Update 2.5 than La Chingona Dorada. Jackie’s gold Power Pistols can be obtained after completing Heroes and returning to the ofrenda after enough time has passed.

The weapon’s current Iconic effect rewards headshots by temporarily increasing Crit Damage and Burn chance. That already fits the Cool tree’s emphasis on accurate handgun fire.

Why it fits: La Chingona Dorada already rewards the same thing the Cool handgun tree wants you to do: land headshots. Update 2.5 finally provides a dedicated mechanic for building V around two Power handguns at once.

Best early-game combination: Kongou + Dying Night

If you are starting a new save for Update 2.5, Kongou and Dying Night are useful early Power Pistols to build around while stronger Iconics are still locked behind later quests.

Kongou is found during The Heist and has a particularly useful Power-weapon identity because its ricochet functionality does not depend on the usual setup. Dying Night is available much earlier through The Gun and gives a fresh character a second Power Pistol without requiring an endgame questline.

Best style pick: Malorian Arms 3516

Johnny Silverhand’s Malorian Arms 3516 remains one of the game’s most distinctive Power Pistols. It arrives late through Chippin’ In, but its high headshot focus and armor penetration make it an obvious weapon to experiment with when building a late-game gunslinger.

Best Revolver option: Archangel

Players who want the build to feel more like a cyberpunk Western should move toward Power Revolvers. Archangel is one of the strongest candidates because it combines a 200% headshot multiplier with an Iconic effect that can knock enemies down through successive hits.

Best cyberware for dual-wielding

Operating System: Militech “Apogee” Sandevistan

The Militech “Apogee” Sandevistan is the natural high-end operating system for this build. At its highest tier it dramatically slows the world around V while increasing headshot, Crit Chance, and Crit Damage, exactly the kind of window a handgun character can turn into multiple precision kills.

A Cyberdeck can still create a hybrid pistol-hacker, but that becomes a different build. For a dedicated Double Trouble gunslinger, Sandevistan keeps the attribute investment focused away from Intelligence.

REDstreams — Cyberpunk 2077: Edgerunners 2 Update (2.5) | Overview

How to play the dual-wield build

This is not supposed to play like a stealth pistol build where V waits behind cover for one perfect suppressed shot. The point is controlled aggression.

  1. Approach at medium range and identify targets before committing.
  2. Activate Sandevistan when entering the main engagement.
  3. Use Dash or Air Dash to create favorable angles rather than trading fire from the same position.
  4. Prioritize headshots and weakspots to keep the Cool handgun engine working.
  5. Use High Noon reload windows after precision kills rather than reloading in exposed positions.
  6. Keep stamina high so Deadeye remains available as consistently as possible.

With Power Pistols, the build is faster and more forgiving. Revolvers push it toward deliberate headshots, smaller magazines, and higher punishment when you miss. Both qualify for Double Trouble, but they create noticeably different gunslinger fantasies.

Best dual-wield build without Phantom Liberty

You do not need Phantom Liberty to use Double Trouble. Dual-wielding is part of the free Update 2.5 rather than the expansion.

Without Phantom Liberty’s Level 60 cap, a practical Level 50 attribute target is:

Cool: 20

Technical Ability: 20

Reflexes: 15

Body: 13

Intelligence: 3

That preserves the entire Cool gunslinger identity and the high-end Technical Ability investment while sacrificing some mobility and raw survivability compared with the Level 60 version.

Cyberpunk 2077 dual-wield FAQ

Can you dual-wield any pistol in Cyberpunk 2077?

No. Update 2.5’s Double Trouble perk is officially limited to Pistols and Revolvers from the Power category. Tech and Smart handguns are not included in the confirmed system.

Do you need Phantom Liberty to dual-wield?

No. Double Trouble is part of the free Cyberpunk 2077 Update 2.5. Phantom Liberty raises the level cap and expands your endgame build options, but it is not required for dual-wielding.

What is the best Attribute for dual-wielding?

Cool is the primary Attribute because Double Trouble is located in the Cool tree and existing handgun perks such as Focus and Deadeye also support Power Pistols and Revolvers.

What are the best weapons for Double Trouble?

La Chingona Dorada is our strongest thematic launch-day recommendation for a pistol gunslinger, while Archangel is an excellent late-game Power Revolver option. Kongou and Dying Night give new characters easier early alternatives.
