EA FC 27 PC Guide: System Requirements, Graphics Settings & What’s New

So the good news is that you probably do not need a new PC just because the number on the box changed from 26 to 27.

The more interesting question is what experience your existing hardware should target.

FC 27 gives PC players six official performance profiles rather than stopping at vague “minimum” and “recommended” labels. That makes it much easier to see whether your setup belongs at 1080p/60 FPS, 1440p/80 FPS, 4K/60 FPS, or the new 1440p/120 FPS target.

EA FC 27 PC system requirements

EA now publishes six reference configurations for FC 27.

The important thing to understand is that these are not simply six increasingly expensive PCs. Some prioritize resolution, while others prioritize frame rate.

Minimum and Recommended configurations support Windows 10 or Windows 11. EA lists Windows 11 for its High and Ultra reference profiles.

Every configuration uses DirectX 12 and requires a broadband internet connection.

Which FC 27 PC performance target should you use?

There is no universally correct preset because a football game can benefit from both visual quality and high frame rates.

The official profiles do give us a sensible starting point.

These are EA’s reference targets rather than guarantees for every system. Drivers, cooling, background applications, laptop power limits, memory configuration, and individual graphics settings can all change the result.

That is also why FC 27 adds tools for adjusting the experience rather than pretending one preset works for everybody.

FC 27 adds new Performance and Balanced graphics options

EA has expanded the PC graphics system around two priorities: performance and visual quality.

FC 27 introduces additional Performance and Balanced configurations alongside the familiar quality presets.

The official requirements make the distinction easy to understand.

An RTX 3060-class system can target either 1440p at 60 FPS using High settings or 1080p at 80 FPS using Medium settings.

An RTX 4070-class system can similarly target either 4K at 60 FPS using Ultra or 1440p at 120 FPS using High.

In other words, EA is finally publishing PC guidance around a choice PC players have been making themselves for years: more pixels or more frames.

Individual graphics options remain customizable, so you are not locked into the preset once you select it.

The new VRAM indicator should make graphics tuning easier

FC 27 adds a VRAM indicator to its graphics settings.

As you change graphics options, the meter estimates the maximum video-memory usage the game expects from those settings.

That is useful because FC 27’s official configurations range from 4 GB of VRAM at minimum to 12 GB at the Ultra level.

Instead of changing textures and other options blindly, you can see whether your selected configuration is beginning to push beyond what your graphics card is designed to handle.

It is still an estimate, not a magic performance meter. Staying below a VRAM number does not guarantee perfect frame pacing, because CPU load, RAM, drivers and other factors still matter.

But it is much more useful than asking players to guess.

What are Enhanced Ultra Visuals?

High-end PC players get another layer above the normal Ultra presentation.

EA calls these options Enhanced Ultra Visuals.

They are intended to push selected visual effects beyond the standard Ultra preset for PCs with enough performance headroom.

Importantly, they are disabled by default.

That is the right approach for a feature like this. Somebody using an expensive GPU for a high-refresh 1440p monitor may care far more about maintaining 120 FPS than adding another layer of visual fidelity.

If that is you, there is no reason to switch every expensive setting on simply because the menu allows it.

EA says FC 27 should launch faster and respond better on PC

Not all of the PC work is graphical.

EA says it has changed FC 27’s startup flow after receiving complaints about how long FC 26 could take to move from clicking Play to actually reaching the game.

On Steam, the startup process now shows fewer intermediate windows and loading steps.

EA’s internal testing found around a 50% launch-time improvement in some hardware configurations, although the company explicitly warns that results vary by setup.

There has also been work on cases where heavy CPU usage could negatively affect responsiveness.

That distinction matters in FC because a performance problem is not always obvious as a giant FPS collapse.

You can have a respectable average frame rate while still experiencing poor frame times, stuttering, delayed inputs, or gameplay that feels strangely heavy.

EA says FC 27 includes optimizations aimed at some of those CPU-related scenarios seen during FC 26.

It is not claiming every possible PC performance issue has disappeared, and neither should we.

Dual-channel RAM matters more than the capacity number suggests

One unusual detail in FC 27’s requirements is that EA explicitly specifies dual-channel memory.

That means the game cares not only about how much RAM you have but how that memory is configured.

EA gives the minimum example as two 4 GB modules rather than a single 8 GB module, while its Ultra example uses two 16 GB modules.

Why?

Dual-channel memory provides more memory bandwidth than an equivalent capacity operating in single-channel mode. EA says this can improve performance and reduce stuttering on some systems.

So if FC 27 feels worse than expected despite technically meeting the RAM requirement, memory configuration is one of the things worth checking.

Do you need an SSD?

Technically, not at the absolute minimum.

EA still lists a 100 GB HDD under Minimum.

Every higher reference configuration specifies a 100 GB SSD, however, and EA explicitly recommends SSD storage for the better experience.

At this point, an HDD should be treated as “supported” rather than “preferred.”

Does FC 27 require the EA app if you buy it on Steam?

Yes.

The Steam version requires an EA Account, EA online activation, installation of the EA app, and linking your EA and Steam accounts.

Steam also lists Denuvo Anti-Tamper and EA Javelin Anticheat, which operates at kernel level.

So buying FC 27 through Steam does not remove the EA software layer.

Steam Friends are easier to find in FC 27

There is at least a useful improvement to the social side.

In FC 26, somebody on your Steam Friends list who was not already an EA Friend could require a manual EA ID search.

FC 27 makes your Steam Friends visible through EA Connect, making them quicker to find and add before entering multiplayer.

That is especially useful now that PC shares its crossplay pool with PS5 and Xbox Series X|S in supported modes.

Keyboard controls have been redesigned

Controller remains the obvious input choice for many football players, but FC 27 has not ignored keyboard users.

EA introduces two redesigned default layouts:

• WASD
• Arrow Keys

The layouts reorganize common movement and match actions to make them easier to reach, while additional shortcuts make tactical adjustments possible without moving as far from your normal gameplay controls.

Controls remain customizable, so existing keyboard players are not forced to abandon a setup they already know.

EA FC 27 vs. FC 26 PC requirements

Here’s the interesting part: FC 27’s minimum and recommended hardware is essentially unchanged from FC 26.

So this is not one of those sequels where last year’s recommended GPU suddenly becomes this year’s bare minimum.

The expansion happens at the other end. FC 27 provides new official targets for RTX 3060- and RTX 4070-class systems, plus the VRAM indicator and Enhanced Ultra options to make better use of stronger hardware.

What should you change if FC 27 runs badly?

EA’s current PC troubleshooting advice gives a sensible order rather than asking you to randomly turn everything off.

1. Lower the target frame rate. If the system cannot maintain your current target consistently, a lower stable target can feel better.
2. Reduce demanding graphics settings or resolution.
3. Close background applications using CPU, GPU, or memory, including browsers, overlays, recording software, and other launchers.
4. Check whether your RAM is operating in dual-channel mode.
5. Update your GPU drivers.
6. Check Windows, laptop, and GPU power/performance settings.

It is also important to separate PC performance from network problems.

If the game stutters offline, has delayed inputs despite low network latency, or feels slow even while the FPS counter looks normal, local performance may be the culprit.

If the problem is high ping, packet loss, fluctuating latency, or disconnects specifically online, lowering grass quality probably is not going to save you.

You may not need a new PC, just a better target

The most reassuring part of FC 27’s PC requirements is what did not change.

A machine that comfortably handled FC 26 at EA’s recommended level does not suddenly fall below FC 27’s minimum line.

Instead, EA is expanding upward.

There are now clear targets for 1440p, 4K, 80 FPS, and 120 FPS, plus better tools for understanding VRAM usage and choosing between visual quality and performance.

That is a more useful PC upgrade than simply writing “GTX 1660 recommended” on a store page and leaving everyone else to figure out the rest.

Whether FC 27’s real-world performance matches those targets across thousands of wildly different PCs will become much clearer after full launch.

At least this time, we know what each setup is actually supposed to aim for.
