MAJOR SPOILER WARNING

This guide reveals the names of all five Silent Hill: Townfall endings, their unlock requirements, late-game locations, New Game+ secrets and several Chapter 15 mechanics. It does not unnecessarily retell every final cutscene, but if you want your first ending to be a surprise, finish the game once before reading further.

Silent Hill: Townfall has five endings: Justice, Forever, Abandoned, Dog and Sci-fi. Three can be earned during a normal first playthrough, while the remaining two are secret New Game+ endings.

And in classic Silent Hill fashion, the game does not simply ask you to choose between a good, neutral or bad answer five minutes before the credits.

Townfall watches what you do across the entire playthrough.

Shortly after launch, players believed the three normal endings were determined simply by comparing your final number of Discoveries with your total kills. That is directionally correct, but subsequent testing has uncovered a more precise point system.

That distinction matters enormously if you are trying to deliberately unlock Forever, which has a much narrower scoring window than Justice or Abandoned.

5 ENDINGS
NEW GAME+
2-PLAYTHROUGH ROUTE

TL;DR

  • Justice: finish with an ending score of 20 or higher.
  • Forever: finish with a score between 0 and 19.
  • Abandoned: finish below 0.
  • Every Discovery – Clue or Document – adds +1 point.
  • Each qualifying enemy killed as Simon subtracts 2 points.
  • Using a Cannula refill / revive as Simon subtracts 4 points.
  • Each damaging mistake made as Zoe during Chapter 7: The Patient subtracts 3 points.
  • Kills performed during Richard and Zoe sections may appear in your post-game kill statistic but do not appear to reduce the hidden ending score.
  • Dog requires New Game+ and three coins deposited into three Guide Dog banks.
  • Sci-fi requires New Game+, three Strange Books and the Strange Access Card.
  • Dog and Sci-fi override the normal endings when their conditions are completed.
  • With manual saves, all five endings can be obtained in two full playthroughs.
Important: the exact point values below were reverse-engineered by players after launch and have since been reproduced by current trophy guides. Konami and Screen Burn have not published the underlying formula themselves, so treat this as the best currently tested model rather than an official developer specification.

SILENT HILL: Townfall - Launch Trailer

How Many Endings Are in Silent Hill: Townfall?

There are five endings in total.

EndingAvailabilityRequirementTrophy
JusticeFirst playthrough20+ ending pointsFor St. Amelia
ForeverFirst playthrough0–19 ending pointsHere To Stay
AbandonedFirst playthroughBelow 0 ending pointsJust Making Things Worse
DogNew Game+ onlyDeposit Bronze, Silver and Gold CoinsLet’s Talk This Out
Sci-fiNew Game+ onlyThree Strange Books + Strange Access CardSci-fi-lent Hill

The three grounded endings all resolve during the game’s normal finale.

Dog also replaces the usual final outcome, but only after you complete its New Game+ coin sequence.

Sci-fi works differently. It triggers earlier in Chapter 15 and completely skips the normal final boss and ending sequence.

How Does Silent Hill: Townfall Decide Your Ending?

The three normal endings use a hidden point score.

The currently tested formula is:

Ending Score = Discoveries − (Simon Kills × 2) − (Cannula Refills × 4) − (Zoe Mistakes × 3)

What adds points?

Every qualifying Discovery adds one point.

Discoveries are the game’s Clues and Documents. There are 85 available across a playthrough.

This includes documents you physically collect and relevant material read through computers when it registers as a Discovery.

What removes points?

  • Enemy killed as Simon: -2
  • Cannula refill / revive as Simon: -4
  • Damaging mistake as Zoe in Chapter 7: The Patient: -3

What does NOT appear to affect your ending?

Current testing indicates that the following do not change the three normal endings:

  • Dialogue choices.
  • Total playtime.
  • Normal healing items.
  • Difficulty.
  • Puzzle difficulty.
  • Strange Postcards.
  • CRTV signals.
  • Phone numbers.
  • Resource Containers.
Do not trust the final Kills statistic on its own. Kills made while playing as Richard or Zoe can increase the overall post-game statistic, but current testing indicates they do not reduce Simon’s hidden ending score. That explains why some early player reports seemed to contradict the simple “Discoveries minus total kills” theory.

A Simple Example of the Point System

Suppose you finish with all 85 Discoveries, never refill the Cannula and make no mistakes during Zoe’s relevant Chapter 7 sequence.

Your calculation becomes:

Simon KillsScoreLikely Ending
2045Justice
3221Justice
3319Forever
421Forever
43-1Abandoned

Now add one Cannula refill and you immediately lose another four points.

That is why Forever can be surprisingly awkward to target even when your Discoveries and visible kill counter appear to be close.

How to Get the Justice Ending

Requirement: finish with 20 or more ending points.

Justice is the investigation-heavy outcome.

The easiest route is to:

  • Collect as many of the 85 Clues and Documents as possible.
  • Avoid optional combat while playing as Simon.
  • Do not use Cannula refills unless necessary.
  • Complete Zoe’s Chapter 7 puzzles without taking damage from mistakes.

You do not need a perfect no-kill run.

In fact, some enemies cannot realistically be avoided during progression.

The important thing is maintaining enough positive points from Discoveries to stay safely above 20.

A safe Justice strategy

Collect 75–85 Discoveries, avoid unnecessary Simon kills and run past enemies whenever the environment allows it.

The CRTV is particularly useful here because tracking enemies through walls lets you route around many encounters instead of turning every corridor into combat.

During the late game, the Flare Gun can also help stun or distract enemies you would otherwise have to fight.

Justice target

Keep your hidden score at 20 or higher. If you collect all 85 Discoveries and avoid Cannula/Zoe penalties, you can afford roughly 32 qualifying Simon kills and still remain inside the Justice range.

Unlocking Justice awards the For St. Amelia trophy or achievement.

How to Get the Forever Ending

Requirement: finish with 0–19 ending points.

Forever is the hardest normal ending to deliberately target because its scoring window is much smaller.

Justice gives you everything from 20 upward.

Abandoned takes everything below zero.

Forever exists only between them.

The easiest way to target Forever

Start from a playthrough that would normally produce Justice.

Then gradually reduce the score by:

  • killing additional enemies as Simon,
  • using Cannula refills if necessary,
  • or intentionally skipping some remaining Discoveries.

Using kills is generally easier to control because every qualifying Simon kill removes exactly two points.

Cannula refills remove four points, so they can make larger adjustments when you know your approximate score.

Forever is why manual saves matter. Make a save during Part 6 before the final stretch. If you receive Justice, reload and add negative points. If you receive Abandoned, reload and collect another Discovery or avoid one or two kills.

Example

With all 85 Discoveries and no other penalties:

  • 33 qualifying Simon kills = 19 points.
  • 37 kills = 11 points.
  • 42 kills = 1 point.

Any of those should place you inside the current Forever range.

Unlocking Forever awards Here To Stay.

How to Get the Abandoned Ending

Requirement: finish below 0 ending points.

Abandoned is by far the easiest ending to force.

Play aggressively as Simon, kill optional enemies and ignore most Documents and Clues.

If your score drops below zero, the ending is locked into the Abandoned range unless you recover enough positive points before finishing.

The simplest Abandoned route

  • Kill enemies instead of sneaking past them.
  • Collect only the Clues and Documents required for progression.
  • Use Cannula refills when needed.
  • Do not worry about keeping the Chapter 7 Zoe penalties clean.

If you are also doing a full collectible first run, you can still reach Abandoned by killing enough enemies as Simon to outweigh the 85 available positive points.

That makes Abandoned a useful first-playthrough target for players planning to get every ending efficiently.

Abandoned target

Any score below 0. If you have all 85 Discoveries and no other penalties, 43 qualifying Simon kills would mathematically push the score to -1.

Abandoned unlocks the Just Making Things Worse trophy or achievement.

MORE SILENT HILL

Townfall isn’t the first Silent Hill to quietly judge how you play

Silent Hill 2 famously uses player behaviour to influence James Sunderland’s fate. If Townfall’s hidden ending logic appeals to you, Bloober Team’s remake is an obvious next stop.

Check Silent Hill 2 offers on G2A.COM

How to Get the Dog Ending

New Game+ only.

Yes, Silent Hill has done it again.

Townfall includes a Dog ending, and getting it requires three special coins that do not appear during your first playthrough.

You must find the Bronze Coin, Silver Coin and Gold Coin and deposit each into a Guide Dogs for the Blind collection bank during the same New Game+ run.

Step 1 – Bronze Coin

Part 1: Arrival – Chapter 1: Cold Open

In Shorefront District – South, follow the road all the way to the Video Star store.

Enter the small back room and take the Bronze Coin from the shelf.

Step 2 – First Dog Bank

Return to Main Street.

Just before the Pharmacy is a Guide Dogs for the Blind donation bank.

Deposit the Bronze Coin.

Step 3 – Silver Coin

Part 4: Clara Woods – Chapter 9: Begin Again

After entering Clara Woods, walk toward the first main intersection and turn right.

Enter the backyard area – the same general location that contained a Strange Postcard during the original playthrough.

The Silver Coin is on a shelf.

Step 4 – Second Dog Bank

Part 4: Clara Woods – Chapter 10: Missing Parts

Continue until you obtain the Bolt Cutters.

Use them to access the area behind the post service building and enter the laundromat.

Inside is the second Guide Dog bank.

Deposit the Silver Coin.

Step 5 – Gold Coin

Part 6: Simon – Chapter 15: Trying Again

During the Remote Systems Control sequence in SWDP – Different, you will reach a console used to unlock the valve door.

Also unlock Room 793.

Go to the lower level, enter Room 793 and collect the Gold Coin from the console.

Step 6 – Third Dog Bank

Continue until you have released the container.

Eventually you will reach a four-way junction surrounded by red lighting.

Continue to the end of the hallway to find the final dog bank.

Deposit the Gold Coin.

Now complete the final boss normally.

When you reach the usual final pier sequence, the Dog ending will override Justice, Forever or Abandoned.

Dog Ending Checklist

  • Bronze Coin → first bank.
  • Silver Coin → second bank.
  • Gold Coin → third bank.
  • Finish the final boss.
  • Reach the pier finale.

The ending unlocks Let’s Talk This Out.

How to Get the Sci-fi Ending

New Game+ only.

The Sci-fi ending – Townfall’s answer to the traditional Silent Hill UFO ending – is more complicated than Dog.

You need to:

  • inspect three specific Strange Books,
  • solve a hidden symbol puzzle,
  • obtain the Strange Access Card,
  • and use that card during Chapter 15.

Unlike Dog, this ending triggers before the final boss.

Step 1 – Inspect Strange Book #1

Part 1: Arrival – Chapter 3: A Connection

Enter Zoe’s House in Shorefront District – South.

Go into the bedroom and inspect the book on the floor to the left of the bed:

History of Space Flight, 1952–1992

Step 2 – Solve the Hotel Symbol Door

Part 2: Zoe – Chapter 6: Journey to Medical

Continue until you interact with the box containing Richard’s gift.

Enter the Hotel and go upstairs to the strange door covered with symbol buttons.

Enter the symbols in this order:

Bird → Tree → Planet → Bird → Three-legged Triangle → Satellite → Satellite → Fish → Rocket → Planet → Dog → Pillar

If you prefer numbering the 5×5 grid from left to right and top to bottom, use:

21 → 17 → 9 → 21 → 12 → 24 → 24 → 5 → 3 → 9 → 1 → 14

If you make a mistake, the panel resets and you can start the sequence again.

Step 3 – Collect the Strange Access Card

Once the door opens, enter the hidden room.

The Strange Access Card is near the elephant statue.

Step 4 – Inspect Strange Book #2

Part 4: Clara Woods – Chapter 10: Missing Parts

After the phone call with Richard, enter the store on the southwest side of Atlas Square.

Inspect the book on the shelf near the entrance:

Freeze Me / Wake Me – Elias Fisher

Step 5 – Inspect Strange Book #3

Part 6: Simon – Chapter 15: Trying Again

During the Remote Systems Control section, use the panel to unlock Room 621.

Inside, beside the Resource Container, inspect:

A Map of Nowhere Else – The Future of Interstellar Travel

Step 6 – Use the Strange Access Card

Continue through the red hallways toward the sequence where Simon removes his IV.

Immediately before the doorway that triggers this scene, look at the wall on the left.

There is a card reader.

Use the Strange Access Card.

Proceed through the door.

The Sci-fi ending triggers after the following sequence and skips the normal final boss entirely.

You do not need to collect the Strange Postcards. They provide clues pointing toward the Sci-fi puzzle, but current guides confirm that the three books and Strange Access Card are the relevant ending requirements.

Sci-fi unlocks the Sci-fi-lent Hill trophy or achievement.

Get the Sci-fi Ending Before Dog When Reloading

This is a small optimization that can save you unnecessary work.

Sci-fi triggers before the final boss.

Dog requires you to defeat the boss and then reach the pier.

So when branching endings from a late Chapter 15 save:

  1. Do Sci-fi first.
  2. Reload.
  3. Do Dog.
  4. Reload again for whichever normal ending you still need.

This way you do not accidentally finish the run and lose your convenient late-game branch point.

How to Get All Five Silent Hill: Townfall Endings in Two Playthroughs

You need at least two full playthroughs.

There is no workaround because Dog and Sci-fi simply do not exist during the initial run.

However, you absolutely do not need five complete campaigns.

Playthrough 1 – Get Abandoned

Use your first run as a broad completion playthrough.

  • Collect as much as possible.
  • Kill optional enemies as Simon.
  • Explore thoroughly.
  • Do not worry excessively about the ending score.

If you kill enough enemies, the negative combat points should outweigh even a high Discovery count and give you Abandoned.

This also lets you learn every area properly before attempting the much more controlled NG+ route.

Playthrough 2 – New Game+

Now aim for a very positive Justice score.

  • Recollect Clues and Documents.
  • Avoid optional Simon kills.
  • Avoid Cannula refills.
  • Complete Zoe’s Chapter 7 puzzles cleanly.
  • Perform the Bronze and Silver Dog ending steps.
  • Complete the first two Sci-fi books and obtain the Strange Access Card.

Save A – Part 4: Clara Woods

Make a manual save near the end of Chapter 10: Missing Parts, once you have completed the progression required to create the Constructed Mechanical Device used for the CEG Tower gate.

This is your main branch point for adjusting the score toward Forever later.

How to manually save:

Townfall lets Simon manually save by using an in-game phone and calling 100. Do not rely solely on autosaves for this route.

Continue Toward Justice

After Save A:

  • continue collecting Discoveries,
  • keep Simon kills low,
  • collect Strange Book #3,
  • collect the Gold Coin from Room 793,
  • but do not yet deposit the Gold Coin,
  • and do not use the Strange Access Card on the final reader.

Save B – Part 6: Chapter 15

Make another manual save around the Clamp Release / red crank sequence before committing to either secret ending trigger.

This is your late-game reload point.

Ending #2 – Justice

From Save B, ignore both secret-ending triggers.

Complete the final section while minimizing unnecessary Simon kills.

With a high Discovery score you should receive Justice.

Ending #3 – Sci-fi

Reload Save B.

Use the Strange Access Card on the Chapter 15 reader.

Proceed forward to trigger Sci-fi.

Ending #4 – Dog

Reload Save B again.

Do not trigger Sci-fi.

Instead, deposit the Gold Coin into the final Guide Dog bank.

Defeat the boss and continue to the pier to unlock Dog.

Ending #5 – Forever

Reload Save A.

This time deliberately reduce your hidden score into the 0–19 range.

The easiest method is to add Simon kills while continuing to keep track of the scoring formula.

Forever calculation

Aim for:

0 ≤ Discoveries − (Simon Kills × 2) − (Cannula Refills × 4) − (Zoe Mistakes × 3) ≤ 19

Finish the game normally.

If you get Justice, you still have too many points.

Reload and add more Simon kills or another controlled negative action.

If you get Abandoned, you went below zero.

Reload and avoid one or two kills or collect additional Documents.

Best Ending Order for Two Playthroughs

StepEndingMethod
1AbandonedAggressive first playthrough.
2JusticeHigh-score NG+ run.
3Sci-fiReload Save B and use Strange Access Card.
4DogReload Save B and deposit Gold Coin.
5ForeverReload Save A and tune your score to 0–19.
Zoe in Silent Hill Townfall
Zoe’s gameplay matters too: mistakes during the Chapter 7 medical sequence can reduce the hidden ending score. Image credit: KONAMI / Screen Burn.

Do Richard’s Kills Affect the Ending?

Current testing indicates no.

This is one of the most important discoveries made after launch.

Your final results screen may count kills performed during Richard’s section toward the overall Kills statistic.

However, the reverse-engineered point model only penalizes the relevant kills performed by Simon.

The same issue applies to Zoe.

This is why players reported outcomes that seemed mathematically impossible under the old “total Discoveries vs. total Kills” theory.

If your end-screen statistics suggest one ending but you receive another, the hidden point system is the likely explanation.

Do Dialogue Choices Affect the Ending?

No evidence currently suggests that they do.

Townfall gives the impression that many small actions could alter the finale, but current testing points to a much more mechanical scoring system for Justice, Forever and Abandoned.

Dialogue choices do not appear to directly add or subtract ending points.

Does Playtime Affect the Ending?

No.

Early developer comments intentionally described the ending system in broader terms – how players behave, investigate and interact with the world – which initially led to speculation that total playtime or time spent in areas might matter.

Post-launch testing has not found a scoring contribution from playtime itself.

Exploring slowly can still indirectly affect your ending because you are more likely to find Documents and Clues.

The clock itself does not appear to be the determining factor.

Do Healing Items Affect the Ending?

Normal healing items do not appear to matter.

Cannula refills do.

Using the Cannula to revive Simon carries a significant -4 point penalty under the currently tested formula.

That is equivalent to two qualifying enemy kills.

If you are narrowly aiming for Forever, a single revive can therefore be enough to move your score significantly.

Do Strange Postcards Affect the Ending?

Not the three normal endings.

Their most interesting connection is to the Sci-fi route because they contain clues toward the hidden symbol puzzle.

However, you do not need to actually collect them to unlock Sci-fi if you already know the solution.

Is There a Canon or True Ending?

No single ending has been designated as the canonical one.

Silent Hill series producer Motoi Okamoto has said that the team does not designate one Townfall ending as the definitive canon outcome.

That is worth remembering before treating Justice as the “real” ending simply because it represents the most positive scoring range.

Justice, Forever and Abandoned are different conclusions generated from how Simon was played rather than a traditional hierarchy where one ending invalidates all the others.

Worth knowing:

The trophy names may suggest positive, neutral and negative interpretations, but Townfall does not officially label one ending as the canonical conclusion.

Can You See Every Ending Without Starting Five Games?

Yes.

With the save structure described above, you only need:

  • one full initial playthrough,
  • one full New Game+ playthrough,
  • and several reloads from Part 4 and Part 6.

There is no chapter select or free-roam cleanup after finishing a section, so the manual saves are important.

Do not overwrite them until you have confirmed that all five trophies or achievements have unlocked.
