If you want to romance Abigail in Stardew Valley, one of the easiest strategies is to give her Amethyst regularly and save a loved gift for her birthday on Fall 13. She also loves Pumpkin, Pufferfish, Spicy Eel, Chocolate Cake, Blackberry Cobbler, Banana Pudding, Monster Compendium, and the game’s Universal Loves.
Abigail lives with Pierre and Caroline in the apartment behind Pierre’s General Store. Her schedule changes heavily with the season, weather, festivals, Ginger Island access, and specific dates, but Friday evenings at the Stardrop Saloon remain one of the easiest times to find her.

Who is Abigail?
Abigail is one of the twelve marriage candidates in Stardew Valley. She is Pierre and Caroline’s daughter and lives in the apartment connected to Pierre’s General Store in Pelican Town.
Her interests lean towards video games, music, the supernatural, sword fighting, and exploring dangerous places. She is friends with Sam and Sebastian, and if neither character is dancing with the player, Abigail and Sebastian normally pair up at the Flower Dance.
Her birthday is Fall 13. Because birthday gifts receive an 8× friendship multiplier, this is by far the best day to give her a loved item.

How friendship works
Friendship in Stardew Valley is measured in hearts, with each heart representing 250 friendship points. Marriage candidates such as Abigail are normally capped at eight hearts until you give them a Bouquet and begin dating them.
Talk to Abigail: Normally +20 friendship once per day.
Loved gift: +80 friendship before quality or special-event multipliers.
Liked gift: +45 friendship before quality or special-event multipliers.
Delivery quest: +150 friendship with the requesting villager.
Two gifts in one week: Adds another 10 friendship points at the end of the week.
Birthday gift: 8× the normal friendship effect.
Stardrop Tea: +250 friendship and does not use the normal weekly gift limit.
You can normally give Abigail up to two gifts per week, but her birthday gift is allowed even if you have already hit that limit. Gift quality can also increase the value of liked and loved items, which makes high-quality crops such as Pumpkin especially useful.
Best gifts for Abigail
Abigail has several loved gifts, but the easiest repeatable option for most players is Amethyst. It is available from mining relatively early, stacks easily, and does not require cooking.
Amethyst: One of the easiest repeatable loved gifts once you are regularly visiting the Mines.
Pumpkin: Excellent during Fall and particularly strong if you can give her a high-quality one.
Pufferfish: A loved fishing gift.
Spicy Eel: Loved by Abigail and useful enough that you may want to keep some for yourself.
Chocolate Cake: A cooked loved gift.
Blackberry Cobbler: Another cooked favourite.
Banana Pudding: A later-game cooking option.
Monster Compendium: A loved book obtainable through combat-related sources.
Universal Loves: Abigail also accepts the standard Universal Loves, including Stardrop Tea.
Best simple strategy: Give her two Amethysts per week and save a loved gift for Fall 13. If you are growing Pumpkins, a high-quality Pumpkin is an excellent birthday choice because gift quality further increases friendship from liked and loved items.
Abigail’s liked gifts
If you do not have one of Abigail’s loved items, she also has several easy liked gifts.
- Quartz
- Ancient Sword
- Bone Flute
- Combat Quarterly
- Basilisk Paw
- Universal Likes, except Vegetables
Quartz is easily the most practical fallback because it is common in the Mines. Just do not assume every farm item works: Abigail dislikes all standard Eggs, most Vegetables, and non-fruit-tree Fruit.
Abigail’s schedule and easiest places to find her
Abigail has one of the more varied schedules in Stardew Valley. Her routine changes depending on the season, weather, specific dates, relationship progress, festivals, and whether Ginger Island’s Beach Resort has been unlocked.
That makes a complete minute-by-minute schedule less useful than knowing her most reliable locations.
Morning: Frequently at home in Pierre’s General Store, usually moving from her room to the kitchen or shop area.
Friday: Leaves home around 3pm and reaches the Stardrop Saloon arcade area at about 3:50pm, staying until 9pm.
Wednesday: Often visits the Museum/Library and later the Graveyard.
Sunday: Frequently spends the afternoon near the Wizard’s Tower.
Rain: Usually stays around Pierre’s General Store or may head to the Stardrop Saloon.
Friday afternoon is the easiest routine to remember. Abigail reaches the Stardrop Saloon at roughly 3:50pm and remains there until 9pm, giving you a reliable weekly opportunity to talk to her or deliver a gift.
Early in the game, Pierre’s General Store is closed on Wednesdays, so you cannot simply walk into the shop from outside. Abigail still follows her own Wednesday routine, however, and can usually be found around the Museum and Graveyard later in the day.
Abigail’s heart events and best answers
Raising friendship with Abigail unlocks heart events involving video games, music, combat, romance, and eventually marriage.
Two hearts
Enter Pierre’s General Store while Abigail is there on any day except Saturday. You join her for a game of Journey of the Prairie King. There are no friendship gains or losses based on how well you play.
Four hearts
Visit the Mountain between noon and 7pm on a rainy day in any season except Winter. Abigail is playing her flute and asks why you are outside.
Best answer: “Enjoying the weather.” gives +50 friendship.
Six hearts
Enter Pelican Town between 9pm and midnight on a non-rainy day. Abigail is in the Graveyard practising with her sword and asks whether you have ever used one.
Good answers: “Yes, and it’s exciting!” or “Yes, but only in self-defence.” each give +10 friendship.
Avoid: “Yes, but it’s dangerous. You should stay safe.” costs 100 friendship points.
Eight hearts
After receiving a letter from Abigail, enter Pierre’s General Store between 8pm and 10pm while she is there. She shows you her spirit board, which reveals that her feelings for you have become romantic.
After reaching eight hearts, give Abigail a Bouquet if you want to begin dating her and unlock hearts nine and ten.
Ten hearts
Enter the Mines or Quarry Mine between 5pm and midnight before giving Abigail a Mermaid’s Pendant. She is frightened by a swarm of bats and asks for reassurance.
First best answer: “Are you okay?” gives +40 friendship.
Second best answer: “I get scared too.” gives another +40 friendship.
Fourteen hearts
After marrying Abigail and reaching 14 hearts, enter the Backwoods between 6:10am and 5pm. The scene follows her rescuing the player from a monster and confronting the emotional consequences of killing it.
None of the dialogue choices in this event change friendship, so choose whichever response best fits your character.
Fast romance tips
The simplest Abigail romance strategy in Stardew Valley is built around consistency rather than expensive gifts.
- Give her two Amethysts per week whenever possible.
- Talk to her whenever you pass Pierre’s General Store or meet her around town.
- Save a loved gift for Fall 13 because birthday gifts receive an 8× multiplier.
- Use high-quality Pumpkin on her birthday if you have one available.
- Complete delivery quests from Abigail for +150 friendship.
- Choose the +50 answer during her four-heart event and the +40/+40 answers during her ten-heart event.
- Give her a Bouquet once you reach eight hearts if you want to continue the romance.
Once Abigail reaches ten hearts and you have upgraded the farmhouse at least once, you can propose using the Mermaid’s Pendant when the normal marriage requirements are met.
Abigail marriage benefits
After marrying Abigail in Stardew Valley, she moves into the farmhouse, adds her own spouse room, and creates an outdoor area behind the house where she sometimes practises her flute.
Like other spouses, she can occasionally help around the farm. She can also give you different items depending on the weather and her daily routine.
