Borderlands 4 is a looter-shooter which, in addition to countless unique weapons, shields, grenades, and class mods, also offers an advanced character progression system through skill trees.
What should you do if your melee build doesn’t bring you as much fun as you imagined when you created it? What if your current class mod has become boring and you want to try something completely different? Does that mean the only option is to start a new campaign?
Nothing could be further from the truth! Borderlands 4 – just like the rest of the games in the series – gives players the ability to reset distributed skill points and create a new setup that suits them better, or one that is tailored to the enemy they are currently struggling with.
How to Reset Skill Points in Borderlands 4?
The skill reset process is very simple – all you need is a Faction Town or a Safe House. In these locations you can find the Respec Machine. If you’re having trouble finding this machine, below we include a picture showing the icon of this device.
When the Respec Machine is within your reach, all you have to do is approach it and pay the required fee, which depends on several factors, but most importantly on your level.
Once you’ve paid the fee to respec skills in the Respec Machine, you’ll be taken to the screen with your skill tree. All points will be reset, and the number of points corresponding to your current level will be returned to you. This way, you can redistribute them, creating an entirely new build that leads to new gameplay options and potentially much higher damage on screen!
In my case – I thought that Raza’s ability to summon an energy pistol would be the build I’d carry with me into late-game. However, as it turned out, I was much more drawn to his offensive ability related to blade combat.
Why Is It Worth Respeccing Skills in Borderlands 4?
The greatest strength of the Borderlands series is the variety provided by the aforementioned equipment components and the expansive, diverse skill trees. It’s worth experimenting with these systems – they provide much greater replay value, can help you discover OP builds that no one has shared on social media yet, and most importantly – it’s simply fun and convenient. You don’t have to reset and replay everything from scratch; you pay, respec, reassign, test, and move on.
