Table of content
From Early Access to Full Release
Originally launching in April 2024 in Early Access, No Rest For The Wicked has been evolving based on player feedback for over two years. Now, Moon Studios (the team behind Ori and the Blind Forest) is ready to deliver the complete experience.
Worth Knowing: This isn’t just a content update – the 1.0 launch includes the full campaign and endgame systems.
What Kind of Game Is It?
Think Dark Souls combat, Diablo-style loot, and a bit of city-building thrown into the mix.
You play as a holy warrior sent to a cursed island where a deadly plague is turning people into monsters. Your job? Clean up the mess – and uncover what’s really going on.
- Brutal, skill-based combat
- Deep loot and progression systems
- Large, explorable regions
- Base-building and city restoration mechanics

The full release isn’t holding back. Here’s what you’re getting at launch:

15 fully explorable areas

Multiplayer
4-player co-op with shared progression
Endgame
New high-level content

Co-op Done Right?
One of the most interesting features is persistent multiplayer.
That means your co-op group can share progress in a private world – even if someone is offline. It’s a big step up from the usual “host-only progression” system most RPGs use.
Platforms & What’s Missing
Right now, the 1.0 release is confirmed for:
- PlayStation 5
- PC
Versions for Xbox Series X|S and Switch 2 are still planned, but there’s no updated release window yet.
Should You Be Hyped?
If you’re into:
- Dark fantasy RPGs
- Challenging combat
- Co-op progression systems
Then yeah – this is shaping up to be one of the more interesting RPG launches of late 2026.
Final Thoughts
No Rest For The Wicked has been quietly building something big during its Early Access run – and October might be when it finally breaks into the mainstream.
The real question now is whether it can stand shoulder-to-shoulder with giants like Diablo and Elden Ring.
We’ll find out soon enough.
