Kinetic Games has confirmed that the full 1.0 launch, previously planned for the end of 2026, has now been moved to the second half of 2027.

Phasmophobia

Release Date: September 18, 2020

Genres: Puzzle, Tactical, Indie

The studio says the delay follows a review of its plans and internal processes, with the new roadmap focused more on polish, quality-of-life improvements, stability, performance, and rebuilding trust after the troubled Player Character Update.

TL;DR – Key Info
  • Phasmophobia 1.0 has been delayed to the second half of 2027.
  • The Nintendo Switch 2 version is now planned to launch alongside 1.0.
  • The 13 Willow Street rework launches on July 21, 2026.
  • A second major quality-of-life update is planned for August 2026.
  • The Unity 6 upgrade is planned for October 2026.
  • A second Player Character update is planned for November 2026.
  • The 42 Edgefield Road rework and Winter’s Jest event are planned later in 2026.

Why was Phasmophobia 1.0 delayed?

Kinetic Games says the decision was made to give the team more time and resources to bring Phasmophobia up to the standard expected for a full 1.0 launch.

The studio also directly acknowledged that the recent Player Character Update did not meet its own standards or the expectations of the community.

Instead of rushing toward 1.0 in 2026, Kinetic is now prioritising fixes, core improvements, stability, performance, and a better overall player experience.

Worth Knowing: Phasmophobia first launched in Early Access in 2020, so the 2027 target means the game will spend roughly seven years on the road to version 1.0.

What is coming in Phasmophobia 1.0?

Kinetic Games is already teasing several major 1.0 features.

All ghost models are being visually upgraded, and the studio says they will provide more unique experiences for players. The update will also introduce Conduits, new ghost-linked items that replace the Bone collectible during contracts and add more lore to each haunting.

For 2026, however, the focus is less on big new content and more on making Phasmophobia smoother, clearer, more stable, and better prepared for its full launch in 2027.
