During the event, players can attract Hoppip, Skiploom, and Jumpluff to their island while unlocking seasonal decorations such as picnic items, flower furniture, and other spring-themed rewards.
While the event itself is fairly straightforward, some mechanics — like finding Cotton Spores or unlocking certain Pokémon — can be confusing at first. This guide explains everything you need to know to complete the Hoppip event quickly.
TL;DR — Hoppip Event Guide
- The Hoppip event runs from March 9 to March 24.
- Start the event by visiting the Pokémon Center.
- Cotton Spores are collected on Dream Islands.

How to start the Hoppip event in Pokémon Pokopia
The More Spores for Hoppip event runs from March 9 at 4:00 PM EDT until March 24 at 3:59 PM EDT.
However, some players may notice that the event only activates the following day depending on the game’s internal daily reset. If the event doesn’t appear immediately, simply wait for the next day or reload your game.
Once the event becomes active, leave your house and you should receive a notification informing you that a new Pokémon has appeared in the area.
Next, head to the Pokémon Center, which will now be decorated with flowers for the occasion. Close to the building you should see Hoppip floating nearby.
After speaking with Hoppip, you will be asked to collect a special event item called Cotton Spores.
These spores are the main currency used during the event, allowing you to unlock decorations and habitats.
Where to get Cotton Spores
Cotton Spores cannot be found on your main island.
Instead, they appear exclusively on Dream Islands.
To access a Dream Island, talk to Drifloon and offer any Pokémon doll from your collection. Once you do, Drifloon will transport you to a randomly generated Dream Island.
During the Hoppip event, Dream Islands are filled with floating Cotton Spores that can be gathered throughout the map.
You can find them:
- floating in the overworld
- hidden underground
- inside caves scattered across the island
Best way to collect Cotton Spores
The fastest way to gather spores is to hold down the Y button, which pulls nearby Cotton Spores directly into your inventory.
This allows you to collect large groups of spores very quickly.
Keep in mind that you can leave and re-enter the same Dream Island as many times as you want during the same day.
However, the game only allows players to visit one new Dream Island per day. After that, you’ll need to wait for the daily reset before generating another island.
Once you’ve collected enough Cotton Spores, return to your island and visit the Pokémon Center again.
Hoppip will now appear behind the desk and allow you to exchange spores for special event furniture.
Hoppip event Pokémon habitats
To invite the Hoppip family to your island, you must build special event habitats.
There are three different habitats tied to the event, each capable of spawning different Pokémon from the evolution line.
Tips for completing the event faster
If you want to finish the event quickly and unlock the entire Hoppip family, follow these tips:
- Visit a Dream Island every day to farm Cotton Spores.
- Use the Y button vacuum ability to gather spores faster.
- Build the Yellow Carpet Habitat first, since it can spawn all three Pokémon.
- Then craft the remaining habitats to target Skiploom and Jumpluff.
By repeating this loop daily, you should have no problem unlocking every Pokémon and decoration before the event ends.
