If you were wondering whether cross-play in Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege is possible, look no further. This short guide will tell you all you need to know about this feature in the game.

So, is Rainbow Six Siege cross-play? The answer is yes.

While previously unavailable, full cross-play between PC and consoles is now possible in Rainbow Six Siege! This has been introduced in December 2024, with the Year 9 update titled Operation Collision Points. So, both PC and console-based players can duke it out with each other, regardless of the platform.

Is there a way to turn off cross-play in Rainbow Six Siege?

Yes. While it’s enabled by default, all you need to do is:

  1. Go to the Options menu in the game.
  2. Find the Crossplay Matchmaking field in the General tab.
    Crossplay Matchmaking option in R6S
  3. Set it to Off.
  4. Done!

You can of course change that anytime you see fit.

Does Rainbow Six Siege feature cross-progression?

Yes, you can link your account across platforms and transfer your progress from one another, but there are some caveats here.

Things like your current rank, rank history, and Skill MMR (Matchmaking Rating) can only be transferred between either Xbox and PlayStation or PC and Luna.

If you join a PC match as a console player, this progress will count towards your PC progress instead of the console one.

When it comes to stuff like your Battle Pass progression, in-game currency, and cosmetics, this progress is shared across all platforms.

What is Rainbow Six Siege all about, anyway?

In case you’re unfamiliar with this game, it’s an online shooter focused on team tactics and destructible environments. Two teams of 5 compete in various missions, such as bomb defusal or hostage rescue. One team has to complete the objective, the other is supposed to prevent them from doing so. There are different Counter-Terrorist characters to choose from, each with different abilities lending to asymmetrical gameplay.

Intense, highly tactical matches and a wide variety of available operators, maps, and game modes have contributed to Rainbow Six Siege’s immense popularity – it’s one of the biggest multiplayer games of the last decade and possibly one of the greatest first-person shooters of all time.

Please note that Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege is NOT free-to-play.
