What’s that? A new holiday? Not really, as it’s been around for quite some time now, although in a physical, “snail mail” fashion.

As it turns out, there is the so-called “National Send a Card to a Friend Day“, celebrated on February 7, as usual (it seems that we’ve missed “Send a Card Day 2023,” sorry!). The origins of this holiday are unknown, but they celebrate a long-standing tradition of sending greeting cards that dates back to ancient times, actually! Chinese and Egyptians used to send neatly-crafted messages on elegant paper. Next came the Renaissance when cards for specific occasions, such as holidays and other events, became really popular. This business really blew up in the Victorian era, with greeting cards for every special occasion and event there is: Christmas, birthdays, Valentine’s Day and so on.

Today, while e-mails and instant messaging have become prevalent, people still buy greeting cards and do things the old-fashioned way, reserving online communication for business, chores, all those “hey, check out these funny cats” links, Facebook-related stuff and the like.

However, we’d like to start a new tradition that should bring more warmth to the rather cold electronic messaging. How about a “Send a Gift Card to a Friend Day?” It saves you a lot of time, since you don’t need to go to the post office to send a card, and it reduces paper usage as well. Besides, while heartfelt messages are lovely and all, we think it’s even nicer if they come with a sweet bonus, like, say, a Netflix subscription or extra credits that you can use to get some new Steam games. It would be really sweet, don’t you think?

Below you’ll find a list of great deals on gift cards on our marketplace. So, pick one, think of a very special friend to send it to, and proceed to making their day even better! Gaming, music, streaming services – there are plenty of options to choose from, all in great prices. Happy browsing!
