Life is Strange series - time manipulation and telekinesis
|Release year:||30 January 2015 (Life is Strange Ep. 1), 27 September 2018 (Life is Strange 2 Ep. 1)|
Dontnod’s series of adventure games is based around individuals endowed with superpowers. The protagonist of the first game, Max, can use time manipulation to return to the past – a skill especially fitting for an awkward high school girl.
She uses her power for anything, from making a less awkward interaction with her classmates to saving her friend from death. In Life is Strange 2, we meet brothers Sean and Daniel. The latter can use telekinetic powers, which put them on the radar of the government. Throughout their journey, Sean must teach Daniel how to use his powers right…or not. The decision is left up to the player.
Beyond: Two Souls - Aiden
|Release year:||22 July 2019 (PC), 8 October 2013 (PS3), 24 November 2015 (PS4)|
|Genre:||Adventure, interactive drama|
Without Aiden, Beyond: Two Souls would be yet another cinematic interactive drama from Quantic Dream.
The poltergeist (controlled by the player or a friend through co-op multiplayer) is capable of many spooky things, such as interacting with objects, possessing NPCs, and dealing with threats to Jodie’s life. The woman’s paranormal partner is exactly the kind of a superpower we’d need when on the run from the CIA.
Infamous: Second Son - Conduit powers
|Release year:||21 March 2014|
|Developer:||Sucker Puch Productions|
The Conduit powers in Infamous: Second Son are a sight to behold. Delsin can use them not only to manipulate his environment, but also to create projectiles and perform complex parkour moves.
Running up the building’s wall, jumping from one roof to the other, then smashing down on the unsuspecting enemies – these are only a few of the tricks our young rebel has in store. However, players beware – using the powers violently will cause bad Karma to accumulate, leading to potentially unwanted consequences.
Bioshock: Infinite - the Vigors and Elizabeth's powers
|Release year:||26 March 2013 (PC, PS3, X360), 29 May 2020 (Switch)|
Bioshock: Infinite is the third installment of the series developed by Irrational Games. Infinite, like its predecessors, introduces various supernatural powers the player can use to clear the area of enemies.
In this game, these powers are called Vigors, which give the protagonist Booker the power of pyro and electrokinesis, possession, sending a murder of crows against the opponent, etc. The player can also rely on Elizabeth – Booker’s companion. Her interdimensional powers allow her to summon munitions and armaments to support Booker in battle.
The Last of Us - Ellie's immunity
|Release year:||14 June 2013 (PS3), 29 June 2014 (PS4)|
In the world taken over by evil fungus that mutates everyone into bloodthirsty zombies, it sure would be nice to be naturally immune to its effects.
Well, teenager Ellie is one heck of a lucky person to be bitten by a mutant, only to find out her brain doesn’t turn into a mushroom-y goo. Her uniqueness draws attention from anti-government guerilla fighters known as the Fireflies, who plan to use her brain to make an antidote for the apocalypse plague. Thus Ellie and her caretaker Joel begin a harrowing journey through the post-apocalyptic United States, a journey that will change them both.
Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order - the Force
|Release year:||15 November 2019 (PC, PS4, XONE), 11 June 2021 (PS5, Sereis X/S)|
It’s time for the most classic superpower to take the stage. As a young Jedi on the run from the Empire, Cal Kestis has limited access to the Force.
The changes when he meets Cere Junda, a former Jedi Knight who decides to finish Cal’s training. The young Padawan will uncover his true potential throughout his journey by learning different Force skills, building his own lightsaber, and doing all the stuff that Star Wars nerds live for.
Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot - the Ki and Goku's tail
|Release year:||17 January 2020 (PC, PS4, XONE), 24 September 2021 (Switch)|
The Ki is the ultimate force in the Dragon Ball universe. It allows the Z Fighters to fly, increases their strength, and allows them to produce powerful energy attacks.
Without Ki, we wouldn’t have all the Kamehamehas, Galick Guns, Special Beam Cannons, etc. In Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot, the player gets to try out many of the Ki-related powers as Goku and other Z Fighters, reliving the epic encounters known from the anime series. Due to its open-world RPG nature, Kakarot adds some never-before-seen skills, including Goku being able to reattach his Saiyan tail to use it as a fishing line. Huh.
God of War (2018) - Kratos' strength

Anyone who knows who Kratos is and what he did to the Olympians would know best to steer clear of his way. The guy who pulls out cyclops’ eyes as if he was picking cherries is not to be trifled with.
But the villain of the 2018 God of War reboot still decides to test Kratos’ might and challenges the former God of War into battle. The royal beatdown he receives from Kratos sends him plummeting into a chasm, and the Ghost of Sparta knows that the time has come. Together with his son, Atreus, Kratos embarks on a quest to scatter his late wife’s ashes. The journey is fraught with danger, and Kratos – tormented by his violent past – will have to put his cold demeanor aside and become a teacher, and a father, for his young son.

Marvel's Avengers - Ms. Marvel's Inhuman powers
|Release year:||4 September 2020 (PC, PS4, XONE), 18 March 2021 (PS5, Series X/S)|
Kamala Khan used to be a normal teenager and a huge fan of the Avengers. But everything changed when during the presentation of the newest helicarrier, something went wrong.
The explosion of the terrigen crystal changed many people – including Kamala – into what the media called Inhumans. Kamala’s powers manifest in her ability to enlarge and lengthen parts of her body, allowing her to jump higher, punch harder, grab onto ledges and enemies, etc. Marvel’s Avengers features other members of the titular group, including Captain America, Iron Man, and the Hulk, each of whom has their own unique skills. However, Ms. Marvel’s Embiggen is probably the coolest and most creative one of them all.
