THQ Nordic, the company owning a good chunk of renown licenses and studios held a showcase on August 1st. It had a few announcements that very much worth attention, so let’s go over them all!
Everything from the THQ Nordic Showcase 2025
SpongeBob SquarePants: Titans of the Tide
There is a new Spongebob game coming. The SpongeBob Titans of the Tide trailer for some reason includes a singing David Hasselhoff, which probably shouldn’t even register as a weird choice. SpongeBob SquarePants: Titans of the Tide will be a 3D platformer game with a hefty dose of creative levels which will require you to swiftly switch between SpongeBob and Patrick to overcome their challenges. All thanks to their BFF rings, so the swapping is fully diegetic!
SpongeBob SquarePants: Titans of the Tide drops into PC, PS5, Xbox X/S and Switch 2 on November 18 this year. There’s also a cheeky pre-order bonus that’s sure to make many people crack a smile.
Wreckreation
Not quite Trackmania, bur perhaps in a familiar tone. Wreckreation is a racing game which lets you build creative tracks with realistic graphics, a not quite as realistic driving model, and lots of fun coming up with ramps and loop-de-loops in otherwise normal-looking environments.
Release date isn’t yet known, but the game will come to PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox X/S.
Tides of Tomorrow
The upcoming game from the devs of Road 96, Tides of Tomorrow got a new trailer showing off bits and pieces about what makes it interesting. Your task is to find a cure for a devastating disease, but the trick is that the game offers asynchronous multiplayer, and other players might influence your world in good and bad ways. And so can you influence their worlds. Items might be stolen, escape routes might be revealed… It’s an intriguing approach to storytelling, and an intriguing world, as well.
Tides of Tomorrow comes on February 24, 2026 to PC, PS5, and XSX.
Wreckfest 2
After some Wreckreation it’s only sensible to enjoy some Wreckfest, too. Nobody can prove this was the guiding principle for both the game making an appearance during the showcase, but it’s undeniable that it works, and it’s great to see a sequel to the destruction derby-like racing game.
Wreckfest 2 is currently available in Early Access on PC and is planned to arrive on PS5 and XSX as well.
Sacred 2 Remaster
Sacred 2 originally launched in 2008 as an rather ambitious, open-world action RPG and a sequel to one of the best Diablo-likes of the 2000s. With several distinct characters, some of whom also had two possible progression paths, a large world, and a good sense of humor, S2 was pretty warmly received. Almost 20 years later it gets a Remaster. Hopefully THQ Nordic secured the rights for the kick-ass, in-game Blind Guardian concert.
Sacred 2 Remaster does not have a launch window yet, but will arrive to PC, PS5, and XSX.
The Eternal Life of Goldman
The Eternal Life of Goldman has a striking visual style, powered by its classical, 2D animation which looks absolutely incredible both still and in motion. It’s a platformer adventure in an original, fantastical world full of plenty of bizarre sights to marvel at and cower before. Just watch the trailer. It runs on strong vibes.
It will be available for PC, Switch, PS5 and XSX when it releases in an unspecified future.
Titan Quest II
The mythic hack and slash is back, now out in Early Access! Almost twenty years after the launch of the original Titan Quest we’re getting a properly new one, with all the builds, synergies, and spectacle the hotbar virtuosos can unleash.
Titan Quest II Early Access is out now on Steam and Epic.
The Guild: Europa 1410
In another startling return from beyond the veil of oblivion, The Guild returns to let you build a business or make a political career in a reasonably realistic rendition of 15th century Europe. Specific details are not abundant yet, but it does suggest a lovely simulation of a medieval life with a smaller scale and higher granularity than the grand politics of games like Crusader Kings. Intriguing!
The Guild – Europa 1410 will arrive to PC in an unannounced future.
Gothic Remake
The Gothic Remake has been cooking for a good while, and might have even went through a little bit of rethinking following the original very non-Gothic demo. Now it seems to be in a good place, recreating the style and the vibes of the original game, and adding some extra bits that should slot in well with the familiar elements. During the showcase a we got less of a reveal and more of a Gothic Remake update, specifically regarding the release window.
Gothic Remake drops at some point of 2026, coming to PC, SP5, and XSX.
Gothic 1-3 Classic
In addition to the remake, the original Gothic trilogy is getting released for PS4, PS5, XO, and XSX, with the necessary control adjustments.
Like the remake, they are coming in 2026.
Reanimal
The creators of Little Nightmares are not done with grotesque imagery and spooky stuff. Reanimal is a horror game about two young siblings trying to escape their horrifically twisted home through a series of mostly platformer-like challenges. So more or less what you’d expect from Tarsier after Little Nightmares. You will always have two siblings to care for, whether they are controlled by CPU or your co-op partner.
Reanimal will arrive to PC, PS5, XSX, and Switch 2, but it hasn’t yet been revealed when that’ll happen.
Fatekeeper
Fatekeeper is an upcoming first-person perspective action RPG set in a dark fantasy world. It’s also probably the closest we’ll ever get to a spiritual successor to the good, old Dark Messiah of Might & Magic. With FPP slicing dicing, and spell slinging, spectacular locations, and a dose of puzzles to solve, Fatekeeper looks mighty interesting and magically immersive in its combat. Hopefully, it will have Dark Messiah’s magnificent kick.
No firm release is announced, but it’s planned for “this winter” and a Steam Early Access launch.
Darksiders 4
Hot damn, it’s finally happening! Fifteen years later, the original Darksiders is finally getting a proper sequel, rather than another prequel. For now not much is known, the trailer is mostly rehearsing the monumental line from the first game and shows the four riders of the apocalypse together on their horses. Not much to go on, but the promise is powerful, especially if developer Gunfire Games brings back the original, rather Zelda-like, formula. Great news to all who lost hoipe we’ll ever see a Darksiders 4 reveal.
Darksiders 4 is coming to PC, PS5, and XSX, but the release date hasn’t been revealed yet.
THQ Nordic really delivered, especially if you’re in your late twenties or somewhere in your thirties and feel pretty justified nostalgia for the games of yesteryear. With so many of them already at least wishlistable, time to expand your list of wishes and start scouting out deals!
