With all the recent videos published in our newsroom it’s hard to decide where to begin when it comes to Prey. The IP is getting a reboot in the next few days and we are definitely eager to learn how the final product performs. The marketing process is full of confidence on the part of Arkane Studios and Bethesda Softworks. You play as Morgan Yu, either a male or female protagonist, who happens to work on a space station that also happens to be alien-infested. A single video from Prey will give you strong System Shock 2 and BioShock vibes, with a bit of a Dishonored feel. It’s up to you how you play and how much the alien powers will influence your playthrough.
You can play a demo version of Prey, if you wish, but only PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions are available. Meanwhile, Arkane Studios reassured players that the problems of PC version of Dishonored 2 won’t be present here.
|Genre||Action & Shooter|
The game was originally scheduled to release in March, but as we all know, delays happen and we just hope that’s for better. Strafe is you next pixel-porn guns-blazing hardcore shooter. It’s full of gore, with beautifully pixelated blood and remains of everything that moves. If you miss the shooters of 90s, Strafe will make you remember such classics as Quake and Doom.
The interesting thing is the fact that each level of the game is semi-procedurally generated. The map is created from random blocks of rooms, which are then filled with enemies, loot and other elements. What’s even more interesting is the fact that it will support Oculus Rift from the day it launches.
|Genre||Action & Shooter|
You might remember Deck13 from their work on Lords of the Fallen. Now the team is bringing its own IP and as you see, it’s another Action RPG heavily focused on combat, but this time set in a science-fiction universe. You will create your own armor using scraps found around and with items taken directly from the enemies. That means that in each fight you have to decide what will be you focus – an easy way out with a quick kill or a more strategic, planned encounter with better loot after that.
We’ve shared some gameplay videos and they give quite a good look at how the combat mechanics are shaping in The Surge.
|Genre||Action & Shooter|
Well, if there was another fighting game that’s spamming at least one character reveal or introduction per week, we would be terrified. For the last few months more and more heroes and villains were introduced and the most recent videos focused on the Joker, Darkseid and Brainiac. Much to our joy, it’s launching soon.
You can expect more than 30 fighters, including some less known characters from the DC Universe. The biggest change is the Gear system that lets you fully customize your favourite heroes, including Superman’s famous red panties. Hopefully, they can get modified as well.
Endless Space 2
Available in Steam Early Access since October of 2016, the game is now receiving a full release on both PC and Mac. Almost 1000 “Very Positive” reviews might be a good sign. With the improved Galaxy Generator, Endless Space 2 offers hundreds of hours of exploration of the unknown.
There are alien races to discover, new empires to rule and various ways to gain power. Each faction you choose has its own story to discover – whether it’s about a murderous AI or the origin of a mysterious leader.
Ice age has come to Earth once again after the asteroid hit the globe. Temperatures drastically decreased and there are only a handful of people still fighting for their lives. You play as Jacob Solomon, a man who’s responsible for the survival of a small group. There’s a mysterious radio transmission and a promise that help will come after a month.
You might image what’s needed for them to keep the proper temperature, eat and do everything else to survive as a group. There are dangers, both in the form of environmental changes, as well as other humans. There’s a lot for you to do, including scavenging, exploration of forgotten buildings and randomized Story Events that include problems with electricity, kidnappings and other dangerous situations.
Two Worlds II: Call of the Tenebrae
|Developer||Reality Pump Studios|
Don’t be that surprised. The game that was released back in November of 2010 is receiving its second expansion. Last year in March Two World II received an engine upgrade that allowed for better details of both environment and models, a co-op multiplayer and other features.
Now the game is receiving a full add-on titled Call of the Tenebrae. It offers a new, lengthy plot with the series of optional subquests. The alchemy system is revamped with new formulas and potions. As you can expect from an expansion for an RPG game, new armors, weapons, bosses, lesser enemies and other elements are included.
Friday the 13th: The Game
Before the license for Friday the 13th was acquired, the game was known as Slasher Vol. 1: Summer Camp. Developed by IllFonic, the game is a TPP survival horror set in a camp of Crystal Lake. It utilizes asymmetrical multiplayer, where a group of players plays as camp counselors and one controls Jason Voorhees.
As you can guess, the killer has various interesting skills to use, while others must do everything to survive, collect supplies and finally escape the camp. Kane Hodder is back as Jason thanks to motion capture and the user will be able to impersonate Tommy Jarvis played by Thom Mathews. Additionally, the game will include a soundtrack composed by Harry Manfredini, the creator of original movie score.
|Genre||Action & Shooter|
|Developer||The Farm 51|
An FPS thriller developed by The Farm 51 became recognizable after the first shots presented its use of photogrammetry to achieve much more realistic graphics. You play as Cole Black, a private investigator, who wakes up in a psychiatric hospital. His only memory is an image of a girl with a bomb around her body. Cole’s task will be to discover how he ended in a place like this, which of his information is real and what’s really happening in the hospital.
The soundtrack for Get Even is composed by Olivier Deriviere best known by his work for Alone in the Dark.
The creators of Deadlight are back after their first game debuted in 2012. While their survival horror was appreciated by both critics and players, this time they offer a colorful action adventure. Rime will release on PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, with Nintendo Switch version coming later in 2017.
There’s a curse and an island. You play as a boy who has to escape from this mysterious place. There’s no spoken narrative and the story is told by your actions and the environments themselves. While some early reveals focused on the open world aspect, the game is now more focused on levels. Survival elements won’t play a role in the final product, allowing you to better focus on the journey itself.
Star Trek: Bridge Crew
If you own a PC suited well enough for HTC Vive or Oculus Rift, or at least there’s a PlayStation 4 with VR in your household, there’s a chance that you’ll let Scotty beam you up. After some delays, this interactive experience is releasing at the end of May.
It’s set in the new / alternative timeline (Kelvin canon) defined by the recent three movies – the plot follows Starfleet ship USS Aegis with a crew focused on finding a new home for Vulcans (that places the story somewhere after the events of 2009 movie). Both story missions and randomly generated quests wait for up to four players, each taking a different role on the bridge: captain, tactical officer, engineer or helm officer.
