Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree

This is one of the games coming out in 2024, scheduled for release on the first day of summer. Although it is a DLC for the 2022 Elden Ring, the events in it take place parallel to those of the main game, and the story and world are similar in length (50h) and size.
This time we follow Miquella’s Path – slowly uncovering the secrets of both the Land of Shadow (a place obscured by the Erdtree where the goddess Marika first set foot after leaving her motherland) and Miquella himself – the eternally young demigod, son of Marika.
Shadow of the Erdtree is one of the most anticipated games of 2024 and had to be on our list of games you need to play this summer!

Destiny 2: The Final Shape

This is also an expansion to another previously released title – this time a major DLC for the 2017 Destiny 2. Additionally, The Final Shape is the conclusion of The Light and Darkness Saga.
The game is a direct continuation of the events from Destiny 2: Forsaken. We again play as one of the Guardians, who this time faces the ultimate showdown with The Witness – the main antagonist of the entire saga. The Witness disappeared into a portal he created on the surface of the celestial Traveler in the previous instalment.
Although the Destiny series is mainly associated with MMO fun and looter shooters, this expansion is a full-fledged action game with an engaging story. Curious about how the war ends, and what will be the culmination of The Light and Darkness Saga? You need to play this title this summer!

Ghost of Tsushima: Director's Cut

Ghost of Tsushima: Director’s Cut is the director’s version of the game Ghost of Tsushima, released a year earlier on PS4. This title (like its earlier version) was a PlayStation exclusive, but in May 2024, the game was released on PC. The Director’s Cut was expanded with the Iki Island DLC.
In this game, we play as the samurai Jin Sakai, tasked with stopping the Mongol invaders who previously attacked the titular Tsushima Island, killing his comrades. Interestingly, the game transports us to historical settings, to the year 1274 in feudal Japan, which we can explore both on foot and on horseback.
Due to its unique atmosphere and the fact that the game recently premiered on personal computers, it also had to be on our list! This exceptional title as a PS exclusive received very high ratings!

The Elder Scrolls Online: Gold Road

As you can see, 2024 is marked by large, extensive DLCs for games. This is also the case here! Gold Road is the eighth chapter, another expansion to the 2014 game The Elder Scrolls Online.
This title once again takes us to Cyrodiil. One of its regions, Colovia, ruled by Colonius, begins to change beyond recognition. A tropical jungle, called Dawnwood by the Elves, is slowly encroaching on its lands. Additionally, the long-forgotten Daedric Prince Ithelia has returned to this very place. The fate of Colovia, as well as the entire Cyrodiil, once again rests on our shoulders.

Helldivers 2 is the second installment of the warmly received sci-fi shooter that premiered in 2015. This title focuses on cooperation with other players, but solo play is also possible.
Once again, we move to the surface of Super Earth, a planet that the titular Helldivers soldiers defend against alien civilizations using a very extensive arsenal of various weapons. In addition to fighting invaders, their task is to spread democracy and peace throughout the galaxy.
If you’re a fan of sci-fi games focusing on battles with aliens and are drawn to elaborate, interesting shooters, Helldivers 2 is the game for you. How about an online session with a group of friends this summer?

Manor Lords

This is one of the hottest releases of the year. Released in April on early access terms, Manor Lords has already made a splash, mainly because the game was developed by a single creator – Grzegorz Styczeń.
Manor Lords is an economic-tactical strategy game inspired by historical realities – feudal Europe from the 11th to the 15th century. As usual in strategy games, our task is to slowly build and develop a village that can then turn into a self-sufficient city, as well as to wage battles against hostile factions and invaders.
The game impresses both in terms of graphics and gameplay mechanics. The official, full release has not been announced yet, but even in early access, this is a title you must catch up on!

Senua's Saga: Hellblade II

Also known as Hellblade 2: Senua’s Saga, this game is a direct sequel to the successful Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice from 2017. Both are dark, Nordic myth-inspired journeys through a semi-fantasy world and… into oneself.
Again, we play as the Pict warrior Senua. After understanding the root of her curse (which is actually a mental illness), the woman copes much better with the surrounding reality. This time, she voluntarily surrenders to the Norse slavers, to find her kidnapped comrades upon reaching Iceland. There, her affliction becomes a kind of gift – she is recognized as a seer. Now she must uncover the island’s mystery.
Due to its stunning graphics and engaging story, it became a hit just days after its release. If you haven’t had a chance to play the second part of Hellblade yet, we highly recommend it!

Gray Zone Warfare | Standard Edition

Also known as GZW, this is a tactical shooter with an open world, heavily focused on realism. The game is designed for PvPvE skirmishes.
In this title, we are transported to the Democratic Republic of Lamang, a fictional country in Asia modelled after Laos. For unknown reasons, the country has been quarantined, and the civilian population has left its borders. Three private military factions are sent to the area to uncover the mystery of the quarantine and the state itself.
GZW features a massive map that can be explored solo or in a squad. Interestingly, the classic health bar has been replaced with a complex injury system – each wound must be treated differently. During gameplay, we must also remember to stay hydrated, fed, and sheltered. Sounds intriguing? Then you’ve got a plan for the summer!

Dragon's Dogma II

This is the second installment of the successful RPG first released on PS3 and Xbox 360 in 2012. The vast, creature-filled fantasy world is completely absorbing!
The storyline of Dragon’s Dogma II is partially based of the first game. Don’t be fooled, though! This title is set in an alternate reality to the first instalment. Once again, we play as the Arisen, a character whose heart has been stolen by a dragon – our ultimate goal is to find the giant lizard. Along the way, however, many adventures and challenges await us.
To assist us, we have companions known as Pawns, which we can create ourselves or recruit from a large pool. Interestingly, other players can “borrow” our Pawns, allowing these characters to gain knowledge about locations and characters and help us. Want to explore a well-designed fantasy world this summer? Frostpunk 2

And finally, a bit of chill with the frosty setting of Frostpunk 2 – perfect for summer! This title is the second part of the game Frostpunk, released in 2018. Interestingly, both were produced by a studio known for the excellent This War of Mine.
The story of Frostpunk 2 takes place 30 years after the events of the first game. The ice-bound, alternate version of our world still suffers from an unexplained climate collapse. Forced to fight for survival, humanity began building cities around coal-fired heat generators. However, 30 years after the disaster, coal deposits are beginning to run out…
Our task, as the city manager, is to find an alternative way to heat the inhabitants and maintain the economy and peace at a sufficient level. Frostpunk 2 is therefore a great title for those who love strategic challenges and also dream of cooling off during summer heatwaves. The game’s atmosphere will undoubtedly help!
