Microsoft has announced another price increase for Xbox consoles, with changes taking effect worldwide on August 1, 2026.
According to Xbox Wire, 512GB models will increase by $100, while 1TB models will increase by $150. Microsoft will also sunset the 2TB Xbox Series X model.
The company says the decision is tied to rising storage and memory costs, which have increased by more than 2.5x. Microsoft also expects those costs to double again by fall 2027.

Why is Xbox raising prices again?
Microsoft says it tried to avoid another increase after the last US price hike in October, but storage and memory costs have continued to rise. Xbox Wire says those component prices are now more than 2.5x higher, with another doubling expected by fall 2027.
The company also says consoles are different from many other consumer electronics because they are typically not sold at a profit. That makes the storage and memory spike especially difficult for gaming hardware.
To soften the impact, Microsoft is pointing buyers toward Buy Now, Pay Later options, 0% APR financing with partners, previously played consoles through retail partners, trade-in programs, and Certified Refurbished Consoles from the Microsoft Store.
