Styx: Blades of Greed launches on February 19, 2026, and the full install takes around 25 GB. If you want instant access at unlock, preparation matters more than hype. Early access is already live for Quartz Edition owners, so timing depends entirely on which version you bought.

Release Date and Preload Time

The Standard Edition unlocks globally on February 19. The Quartz Edition grants 48 hours of early access, which means the game has been playable since February 17. That is the only difference that affects launch timing.

Digital versions support preload. Downloads went live several days before their respective access windows, depending on the platform. If you bought digitally, the safest approach is simple: keep automatic updates enabled and check your library during launch week. Once preload appears, download immediately to avoid release traffic.

Standard vs. Quartz Edition

  • The Standard Edition starts at 39.99 euro and includes the Master of Shadow skin as a preorder bonus.
  • Quartz Edition includes early access plus additional cosmetic outfit themes in Quartz, Amber, and Gold styles, exclusive dagger skins, extra taunts, and a starter pack with two skill points and crafting materials. The skill points slightly smooth early progression but do not change balance or core systems.

Demo and Save Transfer

A limited-time demo is available on Steam. It covers the opening mission where Styx infiltrates a massive golem and steals a zeppelin connected to the Inquisition. Playtime lasts around one hour depending on the approach.

The good news is that progress transfers to the full version. Loot and upgrades earned in the demo carry over at launch.

The demo focuses on early stealth mechanics and combat flow. It does not include later traversal tools such as the glider or grappling hook, which become important deeper into the campaign.

World Structure

The full game includes three open environments, including Turquoise Dawn and the Ruins of Akenash. Vertical exploration expands once advanced mobility tools unlock. The demo represents the foundation, not the full scope of level design or routing options.

Technical Preparation

Make sure you have at least 25 GB of free storage and leave additional space for potential patches. New Quartz powers such as mind control and time shifting suggest slightly higher technical demands than older entries, so updating GPU drivers before launch is recommended.

Preloading removes download delays, but server authentication can briefly slow at unlock during peak traffic, but that is standard behavior for larger releases.

Timeline

  • Early access has been live since February 17, 2026 for Quartz Edition owners.
  • Standard Edition unlocks globally on February 19, 2026.
  • Preload became available several days before each access window, depending on the platform.

Before You Launch

Confirm which edition you own so you know your access window. Ensure 25 GB of free storage is available. Keep automatic updates active and verify demo progress syncs correctly if you played it. Updating drivers before launch reduces preventable performance issues.
