One of the most popular video games about creating and managing your dream dinosaur park is about to receive an important update. Patch 1.2 for Jurassic World Evolution 3 aims to bring new features, environmental additions, and gameplay improvements to elevate the experience to a higher level.

As announced by Frontier Developments, the new update will add a cypress swamp brush to enable the creation of murky environments. It will also add more biomes for the island generator and a new slider to allow further customization of the island.

You can also expect to see some changes related to the gameplay interface, including a new “obstructions” heat map that will quickly show you the areas that are reachable by small, medium, and large-sized dinosaurs. There’s also a mysterious, to-be-revealed dinosaur species that will be added in 1.2, which will be available to everyone for free.

Down below, you’ll find a more detailed breakdown of the upcoming changes.

More Environment Variety with Cypress Swamp Brush

Patch 1.2 will introduce a new environment brush for terrain editing – cypress swamp brush.

With its use, you’ll be able to add gloomy swamps and mist to the edited terrain. A touch of spookiness and murky atmosphere will do wonders for your photographs, so get creative and try to get the most out of the new tools, or simply enjoy a more varied scenery.

Updated Island Generator

There are some improvements for the island generator, too. Most importantly, you’ll have more options in terms of biomes, as patch 1.2 adds three new biomes for players to choose from: temperate, desert, and Mediterranean, alongside the original tropical one.

You will also be given more control when it comes to cliffs and beaches, thanks to a new slider. But there’s more; editing terrain and placing objects will be less restrictive and can now be done all the way up to the water’s edge.

User Experience Changes and Improvements

In patch 1.2, you’ll find a new “blueprints” menu for easy access to all custom and downloaded blueprints.

There’s also a new “copy path style” tool that will allow you to quickly match the style and colors of an existing path.

Finally, there’s a new “obstructions” heatmap, on which you’ll be able to see exactly where small, medium, and large dinosaurs can move around. It will also work for guests and vehicles, and it will change in real time as you’re making changes to the terrain, which should give you a better idea and understanding of how the changes affect your park and its inhabitants.

Bug Fixes

Patch 1.2 will also address certain bugs and other issues in order to improve the game’s stability and performance, which should result in a more enjoyable experience in general.

Developers haven’t talked about the details yet, so we don’t know what specific issues are going to be fixed in the new update. We might learn more about that when the full 1.2 patch notes arrive.

Return of a Fan-Favorite Species

On top of everything else, developers also revealed that update 1.2 for Jurassic World Evolution 3 will bring back a certain dinosaur known from the previous game. The reveal was shrouded in mystery – it wasn’t stated in the official 1.2 announcement which exact dinosaur species will be brought back at this time. It was only said that it’s a fan-favorite one, which leaves some room for interpretation.

With that being said, players have tried to connect the dots, and now they speculate that it could be Deinocheirus, one of the undisputed popularity leaders, as it’s seemingly checking all the boxes.

The unusual, 11-meter-long ornithomimosaur was already confirmed to come back at some point, but the details still remain unknown. Most importantly, it’s unknown whether Deino will be a part of a free DLC or a paid one.

All things aside, whatever species comes with the 1.2 update, it will be available free of charge.

Developers promised to reveal the details on the returning species on December 8, so make sure to follow the official news and don’t miss the announcement.

Jurassic World Evolution 3 – Update 1.2 Release Date

Update 1.2 for Jurassic World Evolution 3 is scheduled to arrive on December 9 and will be available on all platforms (PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S).

The date is unlikely to change, but feel free to follow the news from the official channels – that’s where you’ll find out the quickest whether the plans have changed or not.

Developers also stated that full patch notes will be released when the update goes live, so if you’re interested in all the details about patch 1.2, you’ll have to wait just a bit longer.
