Planning to start the entire KINGDOM HEARTS saga on Nintendo Switch 2? Make some room first. Nintendo lists KINGDOM HEARTS Collection [I–III] at an estimated 131 GB, meaning the complete package can occupy more than half of the console’s advertised 256 GB internal storage before you account for system-reserved space or any other games.
The good news is that you do not necessarily need to keep all 131 GB installed at once. Collection [I–III], which launches on October 8, 2026, is effectively made up of three separate packages, so players working through the saga can manage them individually. If you are still figuring out exactly what is included, our complete KINGDOM HEARTS Collection [I–III] guide breaks down every playable game, movie and missing story chapter.

The short version: Nintendo estimates the complete Switch 2 collection at 131 GB. The individual packages are approximately 54.1–54.2 GB, 26.8–26.9 GB and 45.2 GB, so installing only the part you are currently playing can save a lot of space.
Here is the KINGDOM HEARTS Switch 2 file-size breakdown
Nintendo’s storefront lists the complete bundle at an estimated 131 GB. Looking at the three components separately gives us a clearer idea of where all that storage goes.
There is a small discrepancy here. Nintendo’s Australian listings put the individual packages at roughly 126 GB combined, while the complete collection page lists 131 GB. Nintendo labels all of these figures as estimates, and it has not explained the difference, so the safest approach is simply to plan around the larger 131 GB requirement.

HD 1.5+2.5 ReMIX is the largest starting chunk at around 54 GB. That makes sense given that it contains KINGDOM HEARTS FINAL MIX, Re:Chain of Memories, KINGDOM HEARTS II FINAL MIX and Birth by Sleep FINAL MIX, plus the cinematic versions of 358/2 Days and Re:coded.
If you are new to the series, this is also where you should begin. Our KINGDOM HEARTS games in order guide explains the best sequence and why playing everything chronologically on your first run is probably a bad idea.
You do not need all three packages installed at once
This is the important practical detail behind that scary 131 GB number.
Collection [I–III] is built from three separate software packages. That gives you the option to install HD 1.5+2.5 first, finish the earlier portion of the saga, remove it if necessary and then download HD 2.8 or KINGDOM HEARTS III.

That is particularly useful on Switch 2 because the system has 256 GB of built-in storage, with some of that capacity reserved for the operating system. Players with large digital libraries can expand storage with a microSD Express card.
And if you are planning to buy the collection digitally through Nintendo eShop, you can also check Nintendo eShop balance options on G2A.COM before buying. The same marketplace page offers several EUR denominations, so you can choose the amount that fits your Nintendo Account balance.
The physical Switch 2 version does not solve the storage problem
Buying the boxed edition might sound like the obvious way around a massive download, but there is an important catch.
The Switch 2 physical edition has been listed as a Game-Key Card. Unlike a traditional cartridge containing the full game, a Game-Key Card acts as the license required to download and launch the software.
Nintendo explains that Game-Key Cards require an internet connection for the initial download and enough free system or microSD Express storage for the game data. After the download and first launch, you can play offline, but the physical card still needs to be inserted.
In other words: buying KINGDOM HEARTS Collection [I–III] physically on Switch 2 does not mean you can avoid the large download. Storage planning still matters.
At least these are proper native versions this time
The size has one very important upside: these are no longer the old cloud-only versions that originally brought much of the series to the first Nintendo Switch.
Square Enix is releasing native Switch 2 versions of HD 1.5+2.5, HD 2.8 and KINGDOM HEARTS III + Re Mind. Owners of the previous cloud releases can also receive a 50% discount on corresponding digital editions, while eligible save data can transfer into the newer versions.

So yes, 131 GB is substantial, but you are storing native game data rather than streaming Sora’s entire adventure from remote servers.
If Switch 2 is not your platform, remember that the same three main packages are effectively sold on Steam as INTEGRUM MASTERPIECE. We compared the two versions directly in our Collection [I–III] vs. INTEGRUM MASTERPIECE guide.
PC players can also compare individual marketplace offers for HD 1.5+2.5 ReMIX, HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue and KINGDOM HEARTS III + Re Mind on G2A.COM.

Clear some space before October 8
KINGDOM HEARTS Collection [I–III] joins an already busy October 2026 Switch 2 release schedule on October 8, and anyone building a large digital library may want to check their storage before download day.
The 131 GB figure looks intimidating, but the three-part structure makes it much easier to manage. Install the chapter of Sora’s story you are currently playing, archive it when you are finished, and move on to the next package.
Just do not buy the physical version expecting the cartridge to make that download disappear.
