If you can’t wait to get your invitation to try Digital Extremes’ next action-RPG, now you can speed things up and get some handy stuff at the same time thanks to the launch of the Soulframe Founders program.
If you’ve heard of Warframe, but always wished it wasn’t styled so heavily after science fiction and space fantasy, Soulframe might just be the thing you need. It leans much more heavily into fantastical themes and aesthetics. Its gameplay, at least for now, is closer to Soulslites and other action-oriented fantasy RPGs, rather than the high-octane rampage action of Warframe.
For a while, access to the game was limited to people who signed up for an invite, but the game is now developed enough that you can now also invest in a Founder pack to gain guaranteed access and score a decent number of valuable gear in one swoop.
The Founder packs come in three base variants, as well as an option to get all three and a bonus.
The basic options are the improved versions of Soulframes starting “Pacts” (basically classes): Wyld Oscelda Wyld Sirin, Wyld Tethren. Each includes:
- a dedicated equipment set: armor, primary weapon, and sidearm, unique to each Pact
- a unique bird guide (cosmetic change to a gameplay mechanic)
- a dedicated Talisman (a stat-boosting accessory)
- a Motif (a decorative icon for your username in-game and in the forums).
- a thematic Figment (gear color option)
- 1000 Arcs (premium currency)
- 10 Moonsteel Threads (item transmogrification resource)
- a longsword skin code to use in Warframe
- access to merch store exclusive to Founders
- 2 Soulframe invite codes to share with your friends
The even more premium Founder pack is called the Wyld Paragon, and includes:
- the contents of all the three basic packs
- the exclusive Paragon Greatsword
- the Paragon Talisman
- a dedicated bird guide cosmetic
- a special Figment
- 500 bonus Arcs, in addition to the 3×1000 from basic packs included (3500 total)
- 15 bonus Moonsteel Threads (for 45 total)
- 3 bonus longsword skins for Warframe (6 total)
- 4 bonus invite codes (10 total)
Each pack also give you an ability to stamp your name into the Eternium Garden with a flower specific to each pack. The Garden is the game’s social hub, as Soulframe isn’t ditching it’s predecessor’s MMO elements:
- Maiden’s Veil Bloom for the Oscelda pack
- Larklette Bloom for the Wyld Sirin pack
- Crimsanthemum Bloom for the Wyld Tethren pack
- Marifold Bloom for the Paragon pack
The packs are only available from the official Soulframe website for now, and there is a reasonable FAQ attached explaining how most of this works and what to expect. You can’t get them on Steam, but you can wishlist and follow Soulframe to be notified of interesting updates.
The important thing to know is that while a Founders pack grants access to the game, it is not REQUIRED to play — you can still sign up for an invite or get dragged in by a friend with a spare code. If it’s going to follow Warframe’s lead after launch, the new aRPG will remain free to play forever, supported by a measure of premium cosmetic options. Even the three Wylds Pacts are likely to be possible to acquire later on, not unlike WF’s Prime variant of various gear.
