September is not slowing down.
This week brings one of PlayStation’s biggest games of the year, Nintendo’s next Fire Emblem, a major Trails remake, several console ports and a surprisingly packed group of smaller releases.
Marvel’s Wolverine leads the lineup on PS5, while Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave arrives exclusively on Nintendo Switch 2. RPG fans also get Trails in the Sky 2nd Chapter, while Aniimo, RuneScape: Dragonwilds and TCG Card Shop Simulator are all expanding the week well beyond the three headline releases.

Marvel’s Wolverine

Insomniac finally lets Logan take center stage in Marvel’s Wolverine, a much more aggressive action game than the studio’s Spider-Man titles.
Combat is built around staying close to enemies and maintaining momentum with claws, kicks, counters and special Techniques. Wolverine can also use Adaptations to modify elements such as Rage, survivability and parry timing.
The story takes Logan across several locations while Bolivar Trask moves against mutantkind. Jean Grey, Omega Red and Deathstrike are among the characters already confirmed.
Unlike Marvel’s Spider-Man, Wolverine is not being presented as another giant open-world superhero game. The focus is a tighter story-driven adventure, with optional challenges, collectibles, suits, Mission Replay and New Game Plus providing reasons to explore beyond the main path.
RuneScape: Dragonwilds

RuneScape: Dragonwilds leaves Early Access and reaches version 1.0 this week.
The standalone RuneScape spin-off trades MMO structure for open-world survival crafting. Players explore Ashenfall alone or in groups, gather resources, improve familiar RuneScape-inspired skills, construct bases and use magic for both combat and everyday survival.
The full release incorporates content developed throughout Early Access and brings Dragonwilds to consoles alongside the PC version.
TCG Card Shop Simulator

TCG Card Shop Simulator is leaving Early Access and moving onto consoles at the same time.
The management sim lets you run your own trading card store, order booster packs, arrange shelves, set prices, hire staff and expand as profits start coming in.
You can also open packs yourself and build a personal collection rather than selling every valuable pull. Version 1.0 goes one step further by making the fictional Tetramon card game playable.

Aniimo

Aniimo launches on PC and consoles on September 16, with the mobile version following one week later.
The creature-collecting RPG mixes open-area exploration with real-time action and a large roster of creatures to discover and connect with.
The Pokémon comparison is inevitable, but Aniimo is putting much more emphasis on direct movement and action during exploration and battles. Its launch will be the first real test of whether that approach is enough to help it stand apart in an increasingly crowded creature-collecting genre.
Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave

SWITCH 2 EXCLUSIVE
Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave is Nintendo’s biggest new release of the week and the next full entry in its tactical RPG series.
The story begins with four heroes taking part in the Heroic Games, a competition where the winner is promised one wish. Five years later, the Dagdan Empire is facing destruction and those same heroes have disappeared.
That setup leads into a story built around time travel, with players changing events in the past to prepare for a confrontation with the demon god Balor in the future.
The tactical foundation remains recognizably Fire Emblem, but Fortune’s Weave adds Blaze Arts, Blessings, several parallel character routes, city exploration, recruitment, dungeons and more activities between battles.

Trails in the Sky 2nd Chapter

Trails in the Sky 2nd Chapter continues Falcom’s full remake of the original Trails in the Sky story.
Estelle’s journey resumes directly after the ending of the first chapter, so unlike Fire Emblem, this is not a particularly good place to jump into the story cold.
The remake rebuilds the Liberl adventure with new character models and modern environments while retaining the hybrid combat approach introduced in the first remake. Players can move between faster real-time encounters and traditional command-based battles when more control is needed.
If you finished Trails in the Sky 1st Chapter, this is one of the easiest recommendations of the week. If you did not, start there first.
PATLABOR the Case Files
PS5 + PC
PATLABOR the Case Files brings the long-running Japanese mecha franchise back to games.
Gematsu lists both the PS5 and PC releases for this week, with the console edition receiving a physical release in Japan while both versions launch digitally worldwide.
For fans of the franchise, that alone makes it one of the more unusual releases in an otherwise very mainstream week.
Absolum
SWITCH 2
Absolum expands to Nintendo Switch 2 this week.
The game combines side-scrolling beat ’em up combat with roguelite progression. Runs through Talamh offer branching routes, randomized encounters and upgrades, while its playable heroes have very different combat styles.
It is a good fit for players who like the immediacy of arcade brawlers but want more long-term progression and replay value between runs.
LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight

LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight is also joining the Switch 2 library.
TT Games’ open-world Batman adventure follows Bruce Wayne’s journey toward becoming Gotham’s Dark Knight and pulls inspiration from decades of Batman movies, comics and television.
Players can explore Gotham, fight criminals, use gadgets and vehicles, solve puzzles and play through the campaign either alone or in local co-op.

Active Matter

Players enter unstable zones filled with creatures, valuable resources and rival operators. The goal is familiar: collect what you can and get out alive before everything goes wrong.
A persistent base and equipment progression system connects individual raids, while reality-bending anomalies make its environments less predictable than the usual military extraction setting.

A very busy week for RPG and action fans
Marvel’s Wolverine is the obvious blockbuster, but this is not really a one-game week.
Fire Emblem fans get a completely new tactical RPG built specifically for Switch 2, while Trails in the Sky 2nd Chapter continues one of Falcom’s most important stories. Aniimo gives creature-collecting fans something new to try, and RuneScape: Dragonwilds reaches the point where console players can finally join its survival adventure.
Add several Switch 2 ports, TCG Card Shop Simulator reaching 1.0 and a long list of smaller launches, and the second half of September is already doing serious damage to the backlog.
