Xbox has revealed the second wave of Game Pass additions for September 2026, and the back half of the month is considerably busier than the first. The new lineup includes 13 games, with Gears of War: E-Day, Minecraft Dungeons II, Dune: Awakening, Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 and Ninja Gaiden 4 among the biggest names.

Four of the announced games are arriving on Game Pass on day one, while several existing releases are moving into additional subscription tiers.

The schedule also stretches beyond September itself, with Keeper arriving on October 2 and Gears of War: E-Day launching directly into Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass on October 6.

Xbox Game Pass September Wave 2 games

Xbox’s second September announcement covers games arriving between September 16 and October 6.

Xbox also added RuneScape: Dragonwilds to Game Pass Ultimate, Premium and PC Game Pass on September 15, immediately before the main Wave 2 schedule begins.

Four games are launching day one on Xbox Game Pass

The most important additions are the games arriving on Game Pass at the same time as their full release.

September Wave 2 has four of them:

• Kernel Hearts – September 17
• Well Dweller – September 22
• Minecraft Dungeons II – September 29
• Gears of War: E-Day – October 6

All four are coming to Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass on day one.

Gears of War: E-Day is the biggest addition

Gears of War: E-Day arrives on October 6 for Xbox Series X|S, PC and cloud.

The prequel takes the series back 14 years before the original Gears of War and follows Marcus Fenix and Dominic Santiago during the first Locust attack.

Rather than continuing the story after Gears 5, The Coalition is using E-Day to revisit one of the most important events in the franchise’s history.

The game includes a story campaign alongside multiplayer, including a new version of Horde called Horde Siege and competitive Versus modes.

Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass subscribers get access on launch day.

Minecraft Dungeons II launches into Game Pass

Another significant day-one release is Minecraft Dungeons II on September 29.

The sequel takes players into a new dimension called the Sift, with new environments, enemies and equipment customization.

Like the first Minecraft Dungeons, the focus remains on accessible action-RPG combat and cooperative play rather than traditional Minecraft building.

It will be available through:

• Cloud
• Console
• Handheld
• PC

Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass members receive it on day one.

Dune: Awakening joins Game Pass on September 22

Dune: Awakening is another major addition to the September lineup.

Funcom’s survival RPG arrives on September 22 across Game Pass Ultimate, Premium and PC Game Pass.

The game takes place on Arrakis and mixes:

• open-world exploration,
• survival systems,
• base building,
• crafting,
• RPG progression,
• PvE,
• and multiplayer.

Its arrival also coincides with Dune: Awakening’s console release on Xbox Series X|S.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 is coming to more Game Pass tiers

September 25 also brings another major Activision title into the expanded Game Pass lineup.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 will become available with Game Pass Premium while also joining Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass under the current lineup.

Black Ops 6 includes:

• the cinematic Campaign,
• competitive Multiplayer,
• and Round-Based Zombies.

Unlike the four new day-one releases in this wave, Black Ops 6 is an existing game moving into additional Game Pass access.

Ninja Gaiden 4 arrives September 17

Action fans do not have to wait long for another major addition.

Ninja Gaiden 4 joins Game Pass Premium, Ultimate and PC Game Pass on September 17.

The latest entry combines Team Ninja’s established Ninja Gaiden combat philosophy with PlatinumGames’ fast, highly stylized action.

Ryu Hayabusa returns, but the game also introduces Yakumo and new mechanics such as Bloodbind Ninjutsu.

Rematch is also coming to Game Pass Essential

The announcement is not limited to Ultimate, Premium and PC Game Pass.

Rematch joins Game Pass Essential on September 25.

Sloclap’s football game uses a third-person perspective and focuses on 5v5 online matches where each player directly controls one athlete.

There are no offsides or fouls, making it considerably more arcade-like than traditional football simulations.

Rematch is already available on other Game Pass tiers, with the September update expanding access to Essential members.

EA Sports FC 27 gets an EA Play trial

Football fans also get another September benefit.

An EA Sports FC 27 EA Play Early Access Trial becomes available on September 18 for console and PC.

The trial gives eligible subscribers a chance to play before the worldwide September 25 launch.

This is separate from the main Game Pass library additions, but is included through EA Play benefits available with eligible Game Pass subscriptions.

Eight games leave Xbox Game Pass on September 30

As usual, new games arriving also means several existing titles are leaving the service.

Eight games are scheduled to leave on September 30:

• Atomfall
• Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light
• Little Nightmares II Enhanced Edition
• Little Rocket Lab
• Sifu
• SOPA: Tale of the Stolen Potato
• Sworn
• Terminull Brigade

Sifu is probably the most notable departure, so anyone currently working through Sloclap’s martial-arts action game has until the end of the month to finish it through Game Pass.

September Wave 2 is considerably stronger than Wave 1

The second half of September gives Xbox Game Pass a much heavier release schedule.

The immediate additions include Ninja Gaiden 4 and Dune: Awakening, while Minecraft Dungeons II gives Microsoft another significant day-one launch before the month ends.

Then the schedule rolls directly into October with Keeper and, most importantly, Gears of War: E-Day.
