The Blood of Dawnwalker puts vampires back at the center of a big, choice-driven RPG. Rebel Wolves’ debut follows Coen, a young man who remains human during the day but becomes a vampire at night.
It is also a good excuse to look at how differently games have handled vampirism. Some make feeding a moral problem. Some build entire societies around the undead. Others simply give you supernatural powers and point you toward something unfortunate enough to have a health bar.

The Blood of Dawnwalker
The Blood of Dawnwalker is an upcoming (at the time of writing) open-world dark fantasy RPG set in 14th-century Europe. Coen is human during the day and vampiric at night, giving him different abilities, weaknesses, and ways to approach the same world.
The more interesting twist is time. Major actions consume a limited resource representing the time Coen has left to save his family, so deciding what not to do becomes part of the role-playing. That makes Dawnwalker a useful centerpiece for this list because it combines vampire powers, moral choices, exploration, combat, and consequences rather than focusing on only one of them.

How these vampire games compare to The Blood of Dawnwalker
Of course, once The Blood of Dawnwalker has launched in its full glory, the comparisons and descriptions below might change, but at the time of writing we’re relying on the available trailers and descriptions. With that understanding, let’s drink some blood!
Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines
The original Bloodlines remains a reference point for vampire RPGs. You choose a clan, develop supernatural Disciplines, feed, investigate quests, and navigate a Los Angeles controlled by competing undead factions.
Compared with Dawnwalker, it places much more weight on dialogue, vampire politics, and the rules that keep supernatural society hidden from ordinary humans.
Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines
Release Date: November 16, 2004
Genres: RPG, Vampire, Immersive Sim
Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2
Bloodlines 2 moves the World of Darkness to Seattle and follows an elder vampire known as the Nomad. It mixes first-person supernatural combat with feeding, clan abilities, factions, and a neo-noir mystery.
It is considerably more action-oriented than the 2004 game. Next to Dawnwalker, the biggest difference is setting: medieval vampire domination becomes modern undead politics hidden underneath a major city.

Genres: Action RPG, Vampire, First-Person
Vampyr
Vampyr is probably the closest thematic companion to Dawnwalker. Dr. Jonathan Reid is both a physician and a vampire, so the people he is supposed to protect are also potential sources of blood and power.
Feeding makes Reid stronger, but killing citizens can destabilize their communities. Dawnwalker uses time and Coen’s dual nature to create pressure, while Vampyr builds that tension directly around the question of who you are willing to sacrifice.

Release Date: June 5, 2018
Genres: Action RPG, Vampire, Narrative
Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver 1 & 2 Remastered
Legacy of Kain takes vampirism in a much more mythological direction. Nosgoth is shaped by vampires, ancient races, prophecies, betrayals, and supernatural conflicts spanning centuries.
The Soul Reaver games follow Raziel, a former vampire transformed into a soul-devouring wraith. Compared with Dawnwalker’s personal struggle, Legacy of Kain makes vampirism part of the history and fate of an entire civilization.
Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver 1 & 2 Remastered
Release Date: December 10, 2024
Genres: Action Adventure, Gothic, Vampire
Vampirium: 1997
Vampirium: 1997 imagines an alternate Britain where Dracula is king and you work as a vampiric assassin protecting his empire.
It is a compact immersive sim rather than a huge RPG. Missions are built around systems, stealth, manipulation, environmental interactions, and choosing your own solution. Dawnwalker offers freedom across an open world; Vampirium concentrates the same appetite for choice into smaller replayable missions.
There is no G2A.COM offer yet, so this is one to keep on the wishlist for now.
V Rising
V Rising turns being a vampire into a survival loop. Hunt for blood, avoid sunlight, gain powers, defeat bosses, gather resources, build a castle, and gradually become the sort of creature villagers warn their children about.
It is much less narrative-driven than Dawnwalker, but arguably goes further in mechanically simulating the everyday problems and pleasures of being a vampire.

BloodRayne: Terminal Cut
BloodRayne shares one important idea with Dawnwalker: its protagonist is not fully human or fully vampire. Rayne is a dhampir who combines supernatural abilities with blades, guns, acrobatics, and feeding.
That is roughly where the similarities stop. Dawnwalker uses Coen’s condition to drive role-playing decisions. BloodRayne uses Rayne’s condition to make a gloriously direct early-2000s action game.
BloodRayne: Terminal Cut
Release Date: November 20, 2020
Genres: Action, Hack and Slash, Vampire
Code Vein
Code Vein takes vampire ideas into post-apocalyptic anime Soulslike territory. Its Revenants require blood to prevent themselves from becoming Lost, while Blood Codes let players repeatedly rebuild their combat style around different weapons and abilities.
It has much less interest in political or moral role-playing than Dawnwalker. The attraction here is challenging supernatural combat, character builds, co-op, and turning blood-powered abilities into increasingly elaborate ways of destroying enemies.

Pick your poison
There is no single vampire-game formula. Bloodlines turns vampirism into politics, Vampyr makes it a moral problem, V Rising builds a survival sandbox around it, and Legacy of Kain uses it as the foundation for an entire mythology.
The Blood of Dawnwalker is interesting because it borrows a little from all of those traditions. Coen is predator and human, his powers change with the time of day, and every important decision costs something he cannot recover: time.
