It seems ESRB spilled the beans on the apparently upcoming Switch 2 version of the blocky sim.
The agency got a page listing Minecraft’s Nintendo Switch 2 version just as the showcase week is about to begin, and also shortly after Minecraft’s own announcement show concluded. The voxel-based survival/creativity engine is rated “Everyone 10+” by the way, citing fantasy violence, user interactions, and in-app purchases, because it’s going to be the Bedrock edition, not the PC-exclusive Java.
So, essentially, the same rating the game gets everywhere else. More importantly, the Switch 2 version hasn’t been announced anywhere else, so ESRB might have spoiled the announcement a little bit.

There’s a lot going on for Minecraft these days.
We’re just moments after the announcement of the Minecraft movie sequel and bits of casting, for example. Titled “A Minecraft Movie Squared” is set for a 2027 release, with Kirsten Dunst and Matt Berry joining the first film’s cast.
Berry, known most recently from the vampire comedy show What We Do in the Shadows, lent his distinctive voice to a minor moment in the first movie, but it seems like he has a new role to play. Dunst, in nerdy circles probably known best as MJ from Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man movies, is joining as Alex, the female counterpart to the game’s iconic Steve.
There is also a Minecraft theme park in the works planned for an opening next year, and a new Minecraft Dungeons game. It’s good era for voxel fans, certainly.
