Rockstar’s GTA VI Extended Look did more than show missions and shootouts.
It also revealed just how much time Jason and Lucia will be able to waste between jobs, with basketball, scuba diving, kayaking, gym workouts, racing, base jumping, dirt bikes, clubs, dancing, and plenty more appearing across Leonida.

The 26-minute presentation was captured entirely from in-game footage on PlayStation 5, and IGN has now highlighted the growing list of side activities spotted throughout the showcase.
Rockstar has not necessarily described every single one as a repeatable minigame, but the footage makes one thing clear: Leonida is being built as somewhere to spend time, not just somewhere to drive between missions.
Basketball Is Finally More Than Background Decoration
Basketball is one of the most obvious additions. Jason is shown actually taking shots rather than simply walking past another decorative court, reinforcing earlier footage that suggested the sport would be playable.
That may sound like a tiny feature next to bank robberies and police chases, but these small distractions have always been part of GTA’s appeal. San Andreas had gyms and basketball, GTA IV had bowling and darts, while GTA V expanded into golf, tennis, yoga, racing, and other hobbies.
GTA VI appears determined to push that side of the series much further.
Leonida’s Water Is Basically Another Playground
The Extended Look shows an unusually large number of water-based activities. IGN spotted scuba diving, swimming, kayaking, jet skis, and airboats, while Rockstar’s wider promotional material has already placed heavy emphasis on the swamps, Keys, rivers, and coastline surrounding Vice City.
That fits with Rockstar calling GTA VI its biggest and most immersive evolution of the series yet. The showcase repeatedly moves away from roads and city blocks, suggesting that exploring Leonida by water may be a substantial part of free-roam play rather than an occasional novelty.
Gyms, Boxing and Character Fitness Are Back
Another major San Andreas-style feature is physical training.
The footage includes weightlifting and boxing, while separate preview information indicates that Jason and Lucia can physically change depending on how they live. Exercise can affect their appearance, while eating habits, sleep, and longer periods of partying can also leave visible effects.
That makes the gym more interesting than a cosmetic side attraction. It may feed directly into the game’s broader character-stat and lifestyle systems.
Racing, Dirt Bikes, Base Jumping and More
Then there are the activities built for players who do not want to slow down at all.
Across the Extended Look, publications including IGN and GamesRadar spotted car racing, dirt biking, scooter riding, base jumping, airboating, jet skiing, clubbing, dancing, armed robberies, and other free-roam distractions. PC Gamer also highlighted fan boats, basketball, scuba diving, weightlifting, kayaking, skydiving, and dirt bikes while breaking down the footage.
Not every animation seen in a trailer automatically guarantees a fully developed activity with progression or dedicated challenges, so there is still a difference between “visible in gameplay” and “Rockstar has explained exactly how this minigame works.”
Even with that caveat, GTA VI already looks considerably denser than GTA V when it comes to things to do outside the main story.

GTA VI May Be Bringing the “Living World” Side of Rockstar Back in a Big Way
The main story will obviously still revolve around Jason, Lucia, crime, and increasingly disastrous plans.
But basketball, diving, workouts, kayaking, racing, clubs, and dozens of smaller interactions suggest Rockstar wants the hours between missions to matter too.
If the final game delivers on what the showcase implies, simply deciding what to do on a random afternoon in Leonida could become part of GTA VI’s appeal.
