It seems that open-world, co-op shooters tend to like the number 10.
Anthem was revealed during Microsoft’s E3 conference. It’s a third-person, co-op, open-world, science-fiction shooter about Freelancers, who pilot heavily armored exo-suits. If you don’t remember the game or haven’t seen the trailer yet, here it is:
Apparently, as was the case for Destiny way back before the game’s release, the publisher is committed to a 10-year long plan for Anthem. Electronic Arts’ Patrick Söderlund told Microsoft’s Major Nelson that Anthem has been in development for the last 4 years and the publisher sees the next year’s release of the game as the start of a 10-year plan. He did not specify whether he means that Anthem will be supported for 10 years or that the next installments in the IP will be launched during that time span.
There’s no official word on an exact release date yet, but BioWare is hoping to launch Anthem in 2018 for PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
