It’s a great time to be alive and in love with the RTS genre.

In a cavalcade, or maybe just a dribble, of news about upcoming come-backs of great strategy titles – with the new Anno and remastering of the original StarCraft – the news about a new Age of Empires iteration is definitely a hit.

Microsoft published a trailer, but other than showing us a CGI look at different nations, which might suggest the factions in the game, we have no concrete info. Take a look:

The title is being worked on by Relic, the developer most well-known for its Dawn of War and Company of Heroes strategic series. Since those were fantastic titles thee’s high hopes for the new AoE. They shared their feelings, rather than anything else:

“[We] couldn’t be more proud to be a part of the legacy. We can’t wait to tap into our strengths as a studio to fuse historical context with deep strategic gameplay, and to bring this franchise back to the forefront of gaming and into the hands of its beloved community.”

This, of course, doesn’t sideline any of the remasters that the older games are getting and which are well on their way.
