You get 18 scenarios and 16 of them follow Alexander’s Macedonians. The other 2 give you short campaigns as the Thracians and the Puru. These 2 sideline narratives give you extra context about the people Alexander fought or allied with during his campaigns.

Three New Civilizations

This DLC introduces the Macedonians, Thracians, and Puru. Each one has unique units, techs, and playstyles:

  • Macedonians: these are high-discipline troops. Your core units are Phalangites with long pikes. They are made for holding the line. Your damage punch comes from Companion Cavalry. That cavalry can break enemy flanks fast if you time it right.
  • Thracians: their strength is speed and gold generation. Rhomphaia Warriors hit fast and hard. On top of that, the Thracians can earn gold from combat directly. That means you are rewarded for going on the offensive. The longer you sit still, the worse they perform.
  • Puru: these are the heaviest hitters. They rely on war elephants that crush infantry lines and buildings. They are expensive and slow, but devastating if protected and placed right. The challenge is keeping them alive long enough to be useful.

Visuals, Audio, and Customization

Cutscenes are done in a stylized animated mosaic format. They are short but effective, giving each mission some atmosphere without overexplaining. It is a good balance.

Siege units have been visually reworked. They look sharper and more grounded. There are 13 new music tracks, each one tailored to the campaign.

Gameplay also has some upgrades and you can pick from 5 difficulty levels.

Strategy Talk: Community Builds and Favorites

With 18 missions and customizable unit unlocks, there is room for experimentation. Some players are leaning into Companion Cavalry rush builds. Others are stacking gold-earning techs with Thracians. There is not one right path and that makes it worth discussing.
