The absolutely horrific horror game, Agony, doesn’t why away from how gruesome it is. It has always been a matter of some controversy and the latest trailer only made it look even more hardcore.
So there’s some good news and some bad news about that. The bad news is that in order to get a PEGI rating, the devs had to censor some portion of the game. That is not to say that they had to do it to get a PEGI rating 13 or something, they had to do it to get a PEGI rating AT ALL. Yeah. This should genuinely tell you something.
The good news is that apparently they had to do very little. According to the developer, Madmind Studio, they only had to change a grand total of maybe ~30 seconds from ending cut-scenes. The developer states that none of the things we’ve seen so far, trailers, early gameplay footage or promotional materials had to be changed in any way. Which sort of makes me wonder what the point of even announcing it was, if they didn’t tell us that, we would never know.
The devs also had to drop the idea of the “uncensored” edition, but promised to release a video showcasing all the changes. From the looks of it, it’s very minimal indeed.
Agony should be out by the end of the day and man, this is definitely not safe for work. I’m gonna have to sacrifice my own time to review it. I’m already feeling the agony.
