A game dedicated for smartphones and tablets titled Tom Clancy’s ShadowBreak was announced.
Sadly, Tom Clancy passed away in 2013. His name, though, is still used in Ubisoft’s games, even where it makes no sense except because, you know, marketing voodoo. This time it happened with mobile-focused Tom Clancy’s ShadowBreak.
True to the series’ DNA, Tom Clancy’s ShadowBreak imagines a near-future scenario where disparate criminal and radical factions, known as Shadow Nations, pose a new threat to global stability. Seizing the territory of sovereign countries through a coordinated series of attacks, these Shadow Nations have taken entire populations hostage overnight. To combat this sudden threat, elite marksmen trained in unorthodox warfare and counter-insurgency are granted command of a squad of disavowed military specialists, an initiative now known as ShadowBreak.
Players assume the role of elite snipers commanding a squad in real-time PvP combat, deploy their troops and provide overwatch to assault the opponent’s bases. Smart target selection, troop synergy and tactical execution make the difference between victory and defeat.
The game is developed by Ubisoft Halifax and will be available on iOS and Android devices soon. Tom Clancy’s ShadowBreak will include real-world weapons and arenas, with real-time multiplayer gameplay. There’s also an animated trailer, but no gameplay videos.
